First I want to apologize to the board and specifically Ol’ Blue for my reactions last night.

I know I wasn’t the only one frustrated but I acted like a jerk and it was uncalled for.

We have flights, tickets and rooms for Omaha this coming weekend and I would prefer to be watching our Dawgs play, and that may still happen.

Not really a fan of Bo Bounds, but I do listen occasionally. I think he made a good point this morning. Our success comes when our pitchers are striking out 13.7 batters per game. He said and some of y’all may agree that tonight we will need a pitching performance like that to win,(and I am paraphrasing) whether it is 2 pitchers or a different pitcher every inning.

What are y’all’s thoughts on that formula for success tonight?

Humbly asking in hopes of a civil discussion.

Literally swing the 17n bats and score one more run than they do in a complete slugfest. This ***** has 14-13 written all over it. At least I hope we can find enough runs, cause those bastards are going to score a bunch.

This is the hard truth. And to add, throw in just enough pitching to keep us ahead. It's all hands on deck for this one.

I agree with you guys that we are going to have to score runs and likely more than 6 or 7. But I could see Lemonis and Foxhall saying if we get any traffic, we are changing pitchers up until they can get it to Sims or they run out of pitchers.

I worry more about our aggressive (which I like when they are swinging at strikes) batters chasing bad pitches. They are starting another crafty lefty, so expect a lot of breaking stuff down below the Strike zone.

1) I am glad the Black Uniforms are now out of the mix. Sure seems we had dropped them earlier this year.
2) Today's game requires someone in maroon elevating. We need some unexpected hero **** to happen today.

1. 0-4 this year in them. Throw them in the dumpster where they should have gone the day they were unboxed.
2. We need a Father Burke Masters kind of hero today. Calling it now, Forsythe, Dubrule, or Hatcher wins it w/ a Grand Slam

We've got to get some production all through the lineup - specifically James, Hancock, Clark. Those guys are the difference makers in a game where you've got to put up 8-10 runs.

I start Harding, let him go as long as he can. I don't care that he hasn't been starting. He's the best we've got. Try to get through the lineup twice with him, then hope you can bridge the gap to Sims.

#2 is spot on. If Rowdey and the two Tanners combine for 10 hits and 3 HR’s, Sims pitches 3 shutout innings, and nobody else does anything besides that….we’re still going to get our 17ing asses beat. All four of those guys gave us all they had and then some in Game 1, and it still wouldn’t have been enough if it wasn’t for 4 errors from the best fielding team in the country.

By hook or by crook, we’ve somehow gotten as far as we have with literally nobody except those 4 players being able to deliver with any degree of consistency for the whole damn season. This is the end of the line though….you can’t get to Omaha with only 15% of your guys playing at a championship level. Somebody (and likely multiple somebodies) has to step up.

And therein lies some of our problem. You can probably count on one hand the number of times we have scored double digit runs against an SEC or P5 opponent this year. Its just not who we are. We are not an outslugging you kind of team. Hopefully we pull it off tonight but even expecting us to score 10 to 11 runs is stretching things. We REALLY need to hold ND to no more than 6 or 7 runs and then hope we have a very good night at the plate like we did on Saturday.

I’m using an opener today. We’ve got to have someone else get a couple outs besides Harding and Sims. I’d rather roll the dice in front of Harding instead of behind him. Whoever pitches, we have to limit walks and errors. Those 7 words have defined our season at time.

Also, we’ve got to score 7+ runs. I don’t expect 5 runs to get the job done.

So you think Simmons? That's probably the best option to get the first few outs and hopefully not walk someone. I think you're really rolling the dice with anyone else.

Yep. I mean he's been a starter before. Not sure why we haven't tried this already.

I would start Hootie, go into he gets in trouble. Bring in Preston Johnson, Stinnett and Cade Smith. Smith looked great last night. Go with Sims when the time is right in 6th on up.

Here are some interesting numbers. If you take out the one weekend outlier where we plated 19 runs against Auburn, these are our weekend averages for runs scored on the season

Game 1 - 6.1
Game 2 - 5.2
Game 3 - 6.0

In other words, the data’s telling us what our eyes have been telling us all year. There is virtually zero difference in our scoring no matter whether we’re facing a team’s ace, their #2, or even a 3/4 guy. I don’t know if it’s our approach at the plate or what, but like others have mentioned, we aren’t scoring a dozen runs today. That’s just not who we are

We’ve got to find a pitching formula that limits ND’s runs, and it’s going to involve some risky moves

I know they supposedly had 1 LH hitter and 2 Switch to go with 6 RH. I thought Kavadas was one of the 2 Switch guys but he batted LH the whole day yesterday. Our pitchers have kept him quiet but they have had others step up.

With 6 RH in their order, do you feel comfortable “opening” with a LH on the mound or do we try to get the first 6 outs with a RH and see where we are in the 3rd inning?

Well let's see how ND fares with this drill.

Game 1 - 5.5
Game 2 - 6
Game 3 - 6.6

Also took out the 19 runs they scored against UNC to be fair to your example. Looks awfully similar to our numbers doesn't it.
