Wait a minute, so San Jose State vs Arkansas gets the primetime slot at 6:30 instead of a CONFERENCE game between state and kentucky?

How in the hell did Arky pull that off?

Arkansas and Georgia get the best game times.

Alabama gets another hot game (somewhat unusual), as well as the rest of the SEC teams.

It's not supposed to be this hot in the middle of September.

They have the less attractive match up of anyone on the slate for that day, so they are protecting the CBS primetime game.

Plus, I think Arkansas has a great chance at pulling the upset...................

So they have State-UK and Mizzou-SC both in the 3 p.m. window with one of them guaranteed to be on the SEC Alternate Channel that is incredibly unreliable. Conference games should never ever ever have the risk of being on the freaking alternate channel.

How nice of them to be worried about protecting a game that will be over by halftime (Notre Dame has no chance) so that they can screw over the rest of the league.

To me this hurts attendance for the Kansas State game the most. People will still come to the Kentucky game because it's the first conference game and Bulldog Bash. This weekend is the one that people will skip, and that's really unfortunate because it's a loseable game against a Power 5 team where we may not even have our QB.

This is not September.

This is August, Part Deux.

The negative attitude toward attending home football games in back-to-back weeks is really sad.

But after Kentucky everyone on this board will get their wish, only one home game in Starkville the next 7 weeks.

I was at the USM game and will be at both of the next two games. If you can't see why people have a negative attitude about having day games three weeks in a row with weather in the 90s then I can't help you. Saturday was absolutely miserable, and I say that as a young person in mostly good health (I could stand to drop a few pounds but I'm working on it and that's my only health issue). I can't say enough how happy I am that we were in total control of the game and I was able to leave at halftime without having a guilty conscience. The thought of sitting through that or something similar the next two weeks is not terribly appealing. I'll be there but the weather is probably going to make it a chore, and a lot of people will sit this week out I'm afraid.

Long range forecast says a high of 87* on the 21st. That’s not too bad.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a cold front come in and drop that 7-10* and not much humidity tho

From 2009 to 2013, we had 10 home day games (2:30 or earlier). Since the beginning of the SECN in 2014, we've had 21 home day games including up to the UK game this year.

Of the 10 from 2009 to 2013, 4 were in September.
Of the 21 from 2014 to present, 7 were in September.

I bet you'd have to go back to the 80's to tally 31 home day games for LSU.

If someone deserves the prime time spot, it’s aub/A&M or UT Florida. LSU vandy have the same gripe we do.

At least it’s 3p and not 11a.

Don't think we had lights then, did we? I can't remember when it was, but the first night game they had to bring in portable lights.

It didn't really matter when I was in school because just about all our games were in Jackson.

My wife actually had a good take on the reason why we are at 3:00 and Arkansas is at 6:30. Georgia-ND is primetime CBS at 7 and the SEC figures 3 people or less will watch the Arkansas- San Whoever game so as not to take away from viewers for the GA game with a better matchup like ours or Bama or whoever.

And yes I'm guessing, hoping, temps will be below 90 for the KY game.

That makes sense, except that the SEC gets paid the same whether 20 people watch UGA-ND or 20,000,000 do. After the way CBS screwed the SEC by not renegotiating the deal after we added A&M and Missouri, I see no reason we should be helping them out with their ratings.

yeah but I’m thinking ratings and ****. And to be honest I’m glad I can leave our game and go home and watch the Georgia ND game live

I’m all for going to every game but here’s the reality:

Temp in stadium: 95+
Temp in my living room: 72

2 nights Starkvegas hotel: $500+
2 nights at my house: $0

Pregame activities: Sweat my *** off setting up my tailgate, grilling food for strangers, pretending to like said strangers.
Pregame activities: chill, maybe watch ESPN Gameday, maybe bang wife, maybe get in quick 18.

Long lines to get in stadium: yep
Long lines on the coffee table: availability may vary by location.

Food provided by Aramark: meh
Food provided by my wife: you damn right.

Replays on Jumbotron: 1, maybe
Replays on YouTubeTV: infinite

Options if game goes poorly: complain, cry, surrender cobra.
Options if game goes poorly: what else is on? Bang wife? Get in a late 18?

After game activities: Sweat *** off packing up tailgate, say goodbye to strangers, sit in traffic for 2 hours plus.
After game activities: read SPS meltdowns, watch OM lose, bang wife, possibly time for 9 more?
