Its a deflection strategy to get fans attention away from the inept Rutgers football team. With this loss it will be 19 straight losses to B1G opponents.
No.. it is recognition of what is happening with the refs. I get ti.. star treatment coupled with disinterest in blowouts and just like the fans.. just want the game to end.

Think of that fumble called on the TD.. if that was the 5 yard line instead, I don't think they review it.. not really. We'd have to challenge or something. As it was, I and many others were shocked it was was overturned.

Does the ref treatment matter? Not in wins/losses.. but in spirit and thinking we are being treated fairly.. or not.. absolutely.

Ray talked about his Achilles injury playing basketball. Said he did stretching exercises for weeks to even get ready to play. When Carlin basically said that you can’t get injured exercising if you don’t exercise i spit my soda out.
To me Rutgers announcers have it much more difficult then the elite teams. We have to fill a lot of time in between positive plays.

I love him and of course Big E and Carlin

If I cared a little more today than I would have an aneurism as he probably is, but I just keep telling myself to accept the fact that it’s Ohio State and the big ten front office will give them every call against all the bottom 7 teams in the conference and there’s nothing I can do about it, now or 100 years from now so don’t get upset

He’s a buffoon.

Got to get rid of this guy. Spends the entire game, every game, whining about calls. Has a point at times, but his whole passive/aggressive shtick is terrible.
And I’ll add that his comments about how he would do this and how he would do that cuz he’s a big tough guy are getting real old. Also He actually said today about the second string QB from NJ on OH st “u know , I’m sorry but I don’t see why ANYONE from NJ would leave to play elsewhere!” Really? Just cuz I couldn’t (and maybe he wouldn’t have anyway) u can’t say ANYONE shouldn’t. That’s just so asinine . Oh and let’s not discuss his English. Good lord. Enough with the parcels quotes also. Can u tell I’m not a fan?

When Williams was asked if Bless would see action his response was “is Rutgers in Alabama’s schedule?” (Something to that effect). Loser remark

IMHO you have to take the positive and negatives. What other announcer would call out Gregg Williams for asinine comments about a Rutgers’ player. I also appreciate the love he shows for Eric and how giving he is of his time to the community. Not sure if you have read Ray’s book but it really puts so much in perspective.

Can probably start a drinking game where everyone takes a shot when he makes a complaint.
My Son’s and I used to play the “Absolutely!” game in the car for the ones we would be listening to on the radio.

Who is also semi-employed by the organization he is criticizing.

The guy bleeds scarlet, absolutely loves the school, sounds like he even loves the State of NJ, you couldn't ask for a more sincere homer as an announcer. Love him!!

I lived in the South for three and a half years. Ray Lucas is the definition of objective compared to some of the other schools’ guys. We need a big time homer, since the newspapers hate us. With the exception of Todd.

I have absolutely no problem with him being a homer, it's the every other play how the
refs hosed us. His " were the victim here" schtick is tiresome and puerile.

It’s comical. He also will admit when he is wrong. I love him

Lucas is the best and should always be the announcer. He told one story when he tried playing defense for Parcells and Parcells said "Lucas get out of here!" and Lucas said "you mean like go home?" and Parcels said "Get out of the defense". How Lucas said it was funny.

Recap:

NJ.com sucks, APP sucks, they always say bad things about the football team.

Ray Lucas is a homer, he complains when things don't go our way, he sucks too.

Way to New Jersey.
You forgot the realists. They suck for keeping it real.

Absolutely love Ray as an announcer and the fact that he is a Rutgers homer. IMO we don’t have nearly enough of them. It’s great when I can get the Rutgers broadcast team on Sirius or stream WCTC out here on the West Coast and hear a bit of Jersey from the announcers and the ads. The UW and WSU announcers are similar and always give their home team props much like Ray, but Ray being a Jersey/East Coast guy makes it way more entertaining. Everyone should just lighten the hell up.

So let me understand this -we finally have a media guy who is all in for Rutgers. And many on this board dont like it. Only in NJ - and these same posters complain why players leave the state?

Lol same. We need guys like Ray going to bat for us. We have enough people in the biz who are either dismissive of us or enjoy picking on us. Its great to have an RU homer in the commentating industry.

He was an overrated quarterback here. But he’s fine as an announcer .

I don't see many people praising his play here as one of our best QBs (which wouldn't be hard to do). But the dude had enough talent as a QB to stick in the NFL for 7 years. How many Rutgers QBs can say that? McMahon, no. Teel, no. Nova, no. Savage, no. Frank Burns, Rob Higgins? No and no. Nobody was in the league longer.

He did . But he was still an overrated quarterback here, getting benched every season . So what’s your point?

the "experts" and "purists" are insulted by the fact he is a homer ??--get a life , he is supposed to be --this undeserved elitism about a radio guy on what is effectively a college broadcast of a college game is so self serving---most of the guys on the pre, post or during the game broadcast are RU guys--yeah ,they should be objective--why?

The point is I don't think he was ever rated as such a great QB here. I guess some feel he was. Either way, the other point is that he had enough talent to be Rutgers longest tenured QB in the NFL. Based on those two points, maybe he wasn't over rated.

Ray also may have been under developed and under coached at Rutgers, where as once he got to the NFL, with better coaching, he improved enough to last 7 years. He may have started a playoff game or came in after a starting QB got hurt , while playing for Bill Parcells, who seemed to value Ray's skills.

Ray would give his right arm and his first born for Rutgers. How many of you are willing to love Rutgers unconditionally?

GO around the nation and see how many schools employ a homer because it good for school and fan moral.

This story is growing tired of hating all thing positive about Rutgers.

I like the team of Carlin, Lucas, LeGrand. My only issue with Ray is his whining on officiating. He'll say RU got screwed on a call and then later I'll see it on DVR and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the call. So I wish there was less of that so you could get a realistic picture of what is actually happening.
