Well assuming Lewis comes back we are maxed out for next year so we can't bring in anything else:

Steele, Lewis, Ware, Borchert, Sword, Thomas, Applewhite, Davis, Johnson, Bloodman plus the 3 signees makes 13. That's all the scholarships you are allowed.

De'Runnya (sp?) Wilson. 6'6'' SF who apparently can ball.

Not a "scholarship" player, but definitely a D1 guy.

every-17ing-thing

and if you disagree, you are putting Stans above the program, whatever the 17 that's supposed to mean

You are 100% correct. This is what you get when people started putting their hatred for Stansbury above the program.

When coaches have to suit up just so you can practice, you have depth issues. Sure you can win with only 8 players in the rotation. But they have to all 8 be players and you still need about 4 halfway decent reserves. We only have 4 players and 2 or 3 reserves.

Is he the guy from the Birmingham area? I thought he was a scholarship player. Or did you mean academics by the quotes?

We also had no depth last year....

... and I think we would have been better off forcing minutes out of our backups throughout the season rather than playing our starters so many minutes. This is exactly what Ray is doing; you know he doesn't like having to put Baxter Price in the game. Last year, you would have also lost a few games if for different reasons, but our starters could have been fresher to play big minutes late in the season and won many of the games we lost down the stretch. You can't have 3 guys in the top 5 in the league in minutes and not expect to swoon late in the season. But fan perceptions were different for last year's team, largely due to Sidney.

This year, we actually suffer from many of the same problems. We struggle on defense and rebounding in part because, trying to preserve legs and avoid fouls, we play too much zone. When we play man to man, the defense and rebounding are much better.

You can't compare this team to last year's team, and you stated exactly why in your own post:

you know he doesn't like having to put Baxter Price in the game.

Baxter Price was on the squad last year too, but under no circumstances was there ever any thought of playing him in any game that was still in doubt. Last year we had a full roster, regardless of how many players we actually played in the games. This year, there is no choice as to who plays in the games.

I'm not sure I understand your point. I didn't say that we had a full roster, although we didn't. The issues obviously weren't equivalent to this year, but we only had 9 scholarship players who were eligible to play for most of the season. Only 7 of those guys got significant minutes, because Ro'Quez and Shannessey were simply a huge drop off from the other guys.

The depth issues were not as bad as this year, but my entire point is that if we'd handled it a little better we could have made it to the NCAA tournament. That is obviously not a concern this year, and just as obviously, there is a huge difference in the talent level. But just because the depth level of this team is abysmal doesn't mean that other teams can't be discussed as having depth issues.
