Becht 4* 93 Some good moments but hasn't played like a .93
Hansen 4* 91 Good for pounding the ball 3-4 yds but not a big play threat
Sowell 4* 93 Probably the only player who has played up to his ratings
Brahmer 4* 94 I hoped 6'7" would make him a target in the red zone but that hasn't happened
Burkle 4* 90 Haven't seen much from him
Bacon 4* 93 I'm glad we have him but he's more like a 3* .89
Cooper 4* 92 Nope
Neal 4* 92 Haven't seen or heard much from him
Patton 4* 91 Minimal impact

That's a lot of 4* talent an almost all of these guys are seniors. I hoped for much more.

Can't disagree. It almost seems like the vaunted Brahmer got slapped upside the head with a dose of reality after practicing with Rappaleya

I have a different take.

Who are the people behind these brilliant ratings of portal players? Those are the ones who are disappointing and probably need to find a different line of work.

The portal ratings were absurd from the start and it’s very unfair to expect the players to live up to a mis-evaluation of talent made by someone else.

Most of the former ISU players have obvious talent ceilings. It blows my mind that someone assigned a 4-star rating to most of these players.

I think a more competent qb than Becht would use Brahmer more effectively. Happy for the win, but it’s very evident that Becht has devastated two people in particular this season with his poor performance, Campbell, who would have at least two more wins, and Brahmer, who should be a star TE.

LOL Brahmer has never been anything to write home about.

Can't block a lick, and is not an effective downfield threat.
He is.... tall. That's about it.

Grab one of the Euros on the PSU hoops roster and put him out there - you'd get about the same impact (that is a bit of hyperbole, of course).

He is Mike Gesicki - with even LESS interest in blocking and no ability to make plays as a downfield receiver.

The full time gm overpaid for all of them.

Rapp is the best all around TE on PSU'S team. He's a great blocker and has good hands. I'd like to know how pro scouts would grade our TEs.
I hate to say this but.....Brahmer probably fits into the NFL prototype tight end the best. I mean, just keep in mind they call Travis Kelce a "tight end." He's not had the career he has had because he blocks.
Rapp will have a role in the NFL, but I think that league's style tends to devalue AR's best qualities.

In your world do you think he was going to fill 46 spots in weeks without taking them? You think he was going to go out and outbid everyone for players he had no relationship with? That would have been the better plan? It’s just as simple as saying we have an open budget and well out bid everyone else in the portal? It’s easy as hell to think that but there is no real logic behind that. Yes it sucks but if you don’t understand why they did this you’re not really paying attention to the sport or where the program is currently.

Most disappointed by far in Becht. Really thought he was gonna be 1st or 2nd team B1G. Instead he's a thoroughly average college quarterback.

Go to ESPN and check Rocco's career stats. He's had his best year in completion percentage and his second best season so far in rating. I think this is who he is.

Can't disagree. But IMO, if the coaches hadn't fallen asleep at the switch with a 17 point lead vs Wisky, this season would have been 10-2 or 9-3. Losses perhaps to USC and NW. Split with Minny and UM.
The real question is, can PSU keep the contributors and acquire an elite edge, QB, LB, RB and DT in the portal ? Imagine the USC game with the electric crowd and an edge rusher forcing quicker decisions.
I think the inability to acquire a few "difference makers" has put more emphasis on some potentially good players that need "cover."

Chesney signed 40 during the 15 day portal period. The NIL money is about the same with UCLA actually a few million behind PSU. 4-4 vs 8-0.

Rappaleya>>>Brahmer. Brahmer is a poor man’s Kyle Brady.
Kyle Brady was a block first TE, who ended up a glorified tackle in the pros. Brahmer barely blocks, and if he makes an impact in the pros, it’ll have to be in a Gesicki’esque pseudo-WR role, except he’s not as athletic as Gesicki. Ergo, he’s a poor man’s Gesicki.

There is a reason these guys were plying at Iowa State last year and not Ohio State……

Where are these star rankings from? I’m seeing a different list that has doesn’t hold many of these guys in such high regard (they’re 3 star transfers, at best). The list I’m looking at also lists out the transfers PSU lost and, man, Jim Knowles really did a number on us, taking all the defensive talent with him to Tennessee.

Nope. Some NFL offenses make use of glorified-WRs as TEs, but they still have and use “real” TEs. Brahmer will have a niche role, while Rapp projects as an above average NFL TE who can stay on the field for most downs. Kelce isn’t an exceptional blocker, but he’s not a liability in that respect, while being an outstanding receiving option. Brahmer is a terrible blocker, at the college level, and isn’t the athlete that Kelce, or other prolific receiving TEs are.

Used Kelce as what NFL currently calls TE.Didn’t say Brahmer was in Kelce's orbit.
