Petras and Mertz had better records than the rest, so…
Petras was 1-2 against the other good teams in the West and 0-1 against the best teams in the East. He and the Hawks squeezed by mediocre teams, something Nebraska hasn't done in years.

I don't want to rate them, W's are what count at the end of the day. But obviously there has been a lot of average QBs building their reps on weak West division competition. There's room for someone to make an impact in the division, that's for sure. Put it this way, is there a guy on that list that you'd RATHER have on your team than CT?

Feels like both teams win in spite of their quarterbacks, not because of....

There is no such thing. The best QB’s win the most. In some cases, they inspire the defense and ST to win inspite if their poor play, by giving good press conferences.

Would you trade Thompson for any of the others on that list?

I would not.

He is not loved here in Iowa City, that's for sure.
They should be putting the blame on the Ferentz boys starting him in the first place just like we put the blame on SF for staying with 2AM for 4 years..

You guys think Thompson will be better than Tanner Morgan?
Yes. I can’t believe he’s still your QB.

That dude stinks. The wealth of 4th/5th year QBs in this league is just more proof there is zero offense played in the B1G, and hardly any NFL talent under center at all.

Living here in minnesota, LOTS of fans not enamored with Morgan.

Sitting in the stadium watching games, EVERYONE around me constantly complained about Morgan.

Maybe sit this one out.

True...but they don't like Fleck either because he lost to Bowling Green and Iowa. They expect perfection. With an all new receiving corps, we ran more than only Army and Air Force. But I expect our receivers to be much better this year. Did you see what Morgan did last (non-Covid) year? 30 TD's, 7 INT's...70% completions with many deep extremely accurate throws.

Plus led us to 7-2 and 6-3 in conference.

Honestly, you sound like I did after Martinez’s sophomore year… “yeah he wasn’t great this year, but did you see him as a freshman? He’ll be good again this year. Just wait.”

Morgan had a great year 2 years ago, and hasn’t come close to matching that. Don’t expect it to return this year.

So was this a “COVID year”? Will next year be a “COVID year”? Pretty funny to write off two consecutive crappy years as “COVID years”.

Adrian Martinez is a better QB than Casey Thompson. If only AMart had Mr. Whipple as his coach from the start, he might have been All-Big Ten.

So much wrongness here...AM only had like 20 chances to lead his team to victory in the last 4 minutes of a game and crapped it down his pants every time (except one). The tendency for fans outside the program is to elevate AM for some reason, I have no idea why. After watching him for four years, I dont think the kid has a gamer bone in his body. As another poster once said, AM is "anti-clutch", guy just doesnt have moxie, coaches dont matter in that case.

I guess we'll all get to see

Anyone that tries to say Petras should be towards the top of the rankings on this list does not know football. Maybe that’s not what you’re trying to say?
