Offense overall:B+
line: B
wr: B
qb: B+
rb: A

Defense overall: D
line: F
lb: D
secondary: B+

The secondary is the lone bright spot. Poor tackling, no penetration, Rivers was the only memorable front 7 guy. We have some serious concerns and I’m not sure Gay and Autry are going to make a HUGE difference, but it can’t get much worse.

Forgot sp teams.

kickoff:C-
punt:A+
fg:C-

Fg was scary and got some bad penetration coupled with low kicks and you are 100% right. I didn’t think kick coverage was very good either.

Agree. From what I saw today we're gonna have to have exceptional special team play to get close to pre-season expectations. We didn't have that today.

Agree with the line. There were 3rd stringers in that line due to suspension and injuries. I was pleasantly surprised at pockets and push from them. We have a lot of potential from that group.

On the other side though. That could be THE worst dline performance I’ve seen from us since the early 2000’s.

They were bad - but that’s a stretch. We had some bad ones under Croom and Mullen (I seem to remember 2012 having some terrible performances).

We’ve gotten spoiled watching the best in the nation for two years. Anything is going to look bad compared to that.

Our DE’s kept making the same mistakes over and over and it was never corrected....LB’s poor tackling made the DT’s look worse than they probably are... we miss Johnathon Abram more than I thought we would.... Cole and Landrews looked pretty timid for the most part.

Not sure that can be said. We had tremendous d line talent last year. This year, not at all. Cannot hang that on the coach just yet, can we? People just don't realize what a huge difference Simmons made in the middle. He is better individually than three of our current d linemen combined. Our current crop of defensive linemen are young, green, and not up to par with the guys we lost to graduation and to the NFL.

Deke Adams is not equal to Brian Baker. Big downgrade

I think you have nailed it as a grading. I really hope that our defense will improve after this game but I did not see anyone knock the 17 out of someone all game long. We had moments that were great and they had a really good and experienced line, BUT the D looked like they did not want to be there.

I expect the offense to only get better if the line stays healthy. I cannot remember seeing so many different people catch the ball in one game and Hill looked like the guy I expected when I picked him as my Ya Boy.

Offense was a B-. Stevens showed some good spin and accuracy but at times he scrambling ability for him caught up in the line. Be over threw some but not sure how much of they was the receivers. Running backs great minus a pass drop. Receivers looked much better. One thing I didn’t like was when we got up 20 in the second half we just didn’t run it down their throat and make em like it.

Defense. D- that was like watching sirmon defense. Out of position everywhere, lazy, and piss poor tackling. Nobody holding the edge. No way a sun belt school should run off tackle like that on us.

Special teams. C-. Ticker day and Malik on punt team were the only positives. Jones needs to go or get **** fixed with personnel and teach players to get the 17 out of the way of the hall. Get the right players on. Kick to the endzone.

Coach D. We looked way better last year against ULL. I see flashes of good offense but then the stalls in the second half and still taking forever with the snap is unnerving. I like running backs getting the ball more. But still didn’t seem like the offense had any rhythm except two drives the whole game.

I projected 7-5. After the game I said 4-8 with that defense if we were lucky. Watching rest of sec today, I’ll say maybe 6-6. We still have to figure the defense out because if we can’t stop anybody it won’t be pretty and if we aren’t scoring in the 60s we can’t afford that. I was expecting s score in the 40s today for us. We left a few touchdowns out there in stalled drives. I’m not optimistic about next week. If we look just as porous against usm and not getting to the 40s on o. It’s going to be a very long year. On the positive I wanted to see more discipline. I didn’t see a lot of dump penalties today minus delay of game after kick off.

For a guy who hasn’t started a game in 5 yrs, I thought Stevens was great. Is my math wrong or did he complete 67% of his passes? If you didn’t see an improved passing game you must be stupid. Our RB had almost 200yds rushing. Stevens spread the ball around which was refreshing.
To me looked like a 1st game with a completely different team and we survived.

Defense was scary for sure, Again, a first game, missing 3 legends. I think the suspensions are going to hurt. I think the ULL rushing game is legit. I think the D will improve, how could they not.

I never thought we would win 9 games this year, especially after the probation/suspensions were announced. It’s going to cost us several games.
