I pulled this together for the Fiesta Bowl but anyone coming to AZ can use it. I include places to stay, eat, drink, and play. There are some cool Christmas pop-up bars in downtown Phoenix too.

I’ll be going to the Rate Bowl and cheering for Rutgers.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Just arrived in Scottsdale. Appreciate the info.
That list is for the Fiesta Bowl with Penn State. Lacking so much info.

If you are staying downtown near Chase Field, highly recommend Matt's Big Breakfast about 1 mile from the stadium:

825 N 1st St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

If you are in Old Town Scottsdale, the Sugar Bowl is a great old time ice cream shop and diner.

Hula's Modern Tiki is a great food option. Get the Johnny Cakes.

Sounds like all involved were friends or family out celebrating Xmas at an airport restaurant.
Terminal 4 taco restaurant. I guess they did not find the true meaning of Christmas in an airport taco restaurant. Go figure.

Police also took down a suspected active shooter last night in the airport. Deck the halls and all that.

Sheesh.

It's illegal at any US airport, open or concealed.
Is that poster leftorright? Hard to tell, and I don't really care--you and vkj have the more reasoned and nuanced position.

Not sure where the active shooter would have concealed his gun?

We are 2 hours from Phoenix staying in Sedona, but decided to pass on today. Too dangerous down there!

A couple of hours after the shooting, a man reportedly reacting to a text falsely describing an active shooter at the Sky Harbor arrived at the airport with numerous firearms and was arrested after a brief altercation with Phoenix police, Reeson said.

"There was no active shooter; there never was," Reeson said
.

What’s crazy is my daughter was at the airport at that time flying back home. We don’t even get a notification about it happening. Nothing on any airline app, nothing propped up on our phone as an alert either. She didn’t even know it happened

It was all over the local news stations here in Sedona (we get the Phoenix news because nothing happens in Sedona) this morning. As posted above, the active shooter was not an active shooter, but he apparently had guns that were seized. The Phoenix airport bills itself as the friendliest airport--and we fly in and out of there 4-6 times per year, and this is surprising. It is a very well run, clean and safe airport.
Is your daughter at ASU?

Smart move. Shocked at the amount homeless and vagrants down here in Scottsdale/ Phoenix. We will be hitting Sedona on our back home tomorrow.

No we are on family vacation been coming to fiesta bowl for 10 years. She flew home alone because she felt she had missed too much training and vacation was already too long.
