This is the first time in 20 years I'm going try to watch it. This is a historic week.

It was a really good show. Vince should be shook right now.

I agree. It was a very good show. The production value was shockingly good. I hope they can continue to build and develop solid storylines.

Anything with Megaheel Chris Jericho is worth a watch.

For the record, I still don't get Kenny Omega. He's seems super dorky. He's great in the ring, but his mannerisms are super lame.

I did a little research on Moxley (Dean Ambrose). I hope they let him be the smartass he was in the WWE. Some of his stuff is pretty funny.

Kenny Omega is a lot like AJ Styles to me. Great athlete, great worker, and not a guy people are going to buy into as a legit badass. He should be booked like a Robert Gibson babyface: get the **** kicked out of you and bump like crazy for fifteen minutes and then get the upset win at the end.

Haven't watched since Mid South Rasslin. The good ol' days.

You’d probably like this new promotion. Lots of old school things like time limits on matches, fewer commercials, and real heels. A lot of it is like attitude era WWE too, like good ol JR, fans chanting obscene things, and more time devoted to wrestling than cutting promos.

Came across this article: https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2019-10-02/aew-debut-pro-wrestling

Biggest takeaway to me was this blurb:

Unsurprisingly, interest in WWE and thus pro wrestling in general has greatly declined since competition went away in 2001. In 1999, WWF Raw set a ratings record when it drew 9.2 million viewers head to head with Nitro. Last Monday’s Raw, a loaded show with appearances by Brock Lesnar, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, drew 2.57 million. Live event attendance, merchandise and pay-per-view buy rates also fell significantly (pay-per-views eventually were largely replaced by the subscription service WWE Network). WWE is more profitable than ever thanks to rich television deals with USA and Fox but fan interest in wrestling is about as low as it has ever been.

Sounds familiar.

Unless you saw him in New Japan last year, you haven’t seen the best version of Kenny Omega. His persona as “The Cleaner” is very badass. And he very well may be the best wrestler in the world. Which is why I’m confused as to why AEW is presenting him as basically “just another guy.” Odd use of the biggest free agent signing in at least a decade. I suspect what may happen is that Omega will finally get fed up with the Moxley attacks, and we’ll be treated to his more serious Cleaner character. In any case, it feels damn good to have Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone calling matches again. We needed a southern-based wrestling promotion back.

His ability to wrestle isn't my issue. He's amazing at that. He's simply a dork. I think it's the Canadian in him.

Just saw that AEW’s premiere drew a 1.4 last night which you’d have to think is catching Vince’s eye. It also appeared to be a completely packed house, and as long as they stay in their lane while continuing to develop/add talent, I think they’ve got a real chance to do something special

WWE has lost me to the point of no return, so I’m really pulling for these guys
