I've actually never watched a second a CM Punk wrestle, but it was cool to see him come back. Made a lot of fans happy.

Last night I watched my first PPV in 20 years. Cool to the Becky Lynch back but I didn't agree with the pencil work. I felt like that match should have been interrupted and resulted in a DQ or draw. Sorta made Bianca Belaire irrelevant.

And holy ****, that Carmella chick is an absolute smoke show.

Lastly, pony tailed Brock was quite the sight. Glad he's back. I really don't care for Roman Reigns. His acting is so bad it makes me laugh. There's something about him that makes me not respect him. I feel the same way about Kenny Omega. I think their cheese factor is a fraction too high.

My old *** dozed off for the Goldberg fight and that was my whole reason for watching. Waking up to see John Cena in the ring pissed me off.

The WWE returns were 100% a reaction to Punk’s debut. All were pretty neat, the difference is there is no reason to expect WWE will follow up on this well (see the Becky Lynch thing already) whereas AEW has shown me enough to think they’ll use Punk well.

That opening segment with Punk on Friday night was one of the coolest things I’ve seen in wrestling in a while. He is an icon in Chicago so I knew the reaction would be great, but holy smokes. He brings some definite star power and great match potential to that company. I haven’t bought a wrestling PPV in years but I may have to buy All Out.

There’s more to come though. The expectation is Bryan Danielson is debuting in AEW in about a month, so you’re talking about them suddenly signing the two most popular guys in wrestling from the 2010s. It’s a big deal for them.

Daniel Bryan is expected to debut for AEW in New York. Tony Khan has also said to expect a third big signing soon. Most people think that it’ll be Bray Wyatt. I haven’t watched wrestling regularly in over a decade, mainly because WWE is so bad. I watched a few AEW shows pre-pandemic and liked what I saw.

It’ll be interesting to see if AEW can use Punk, Bryan, and Wyatt better than WWE did. I expect that they will. The more interesting question to me is, does AEW end up having a better roster than WWE? I think the answer is yes, which is wild.

People think Vince is whittling the roster down to make a sale to Disney more profitable. Bray was probably a high dollar worker. His spots probably cost money for production as well. Also I don’t think he has been on TV since Brodie Lee’s death. People say he took it very hard.

I don’t think that Punk has ever been as great of an actual wrestler as some make him out to be, but he is great at selling a feud. I would’ve loved to see him and Rollins do something, but him being back in the business in any capacity is good for wrestling.

WWE is such a boring, poorly booked **** show right now… I honestly wonder if the hole is too deep to get out of. Every time I think they can’t make things worse, they let go of bright young talent in favor of broken down 55 year old has beens, and they’ve completely forgotten how to produce anything new. Just a year ago, I would’ve never considered AEW to be legit competition for them, but it’s getting real now.
