Tough break for Slater and the Chargers who are now 0-4. The Chargers battled hard but made too many key mistakes today. Injury report tomorrow but expect Slater will be sidelined. He’s a top OT but has suffered serious season-ending injuries before.

“Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a fourth-quarter ankle injury during the team's 30–23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on October 4, 2026. [1, 2]
    • Injury Details: Slater left the game in the fourth quarter and was seen limping off the field before heading to the locker room.
    • Current Status: He was spotted leaving the stadium wearing a protective walking boot and using a cane.”

The only upside for Slater lately is that he signed such a huge contract just before getting injured. I'm sure he is doing everything he can to get back on the field because it is not in his nature to do otherwise but he didn't sign that contract to do rehab.

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater has been placed on injured reserve (IR) after undergoing a tightrope surgery on his right ankle.

Key Details
    • Injury: High right ankle sprain suffered during the Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
    • Surgery: Underwent a tightrope procedure in Los Angeles to accelerate recovery.
    • Timeline: Will miss a minimum of four games on IR, with an expected recovery window of roughly 6 to 8 weeks.
    • Impact: Adds to a mounting injury crisis for an 0-4 Chargers team alongside other sidelined starters like Joe Alt and Kayode Awosika. Rookie Logan Taylor is expected to step in at left tackle.

Tightrope procedure is relatively new(15-20years). It is minimally invasive. A very strong synthetic fiber with small toggles is passed through both the fibula and tibia, the ankle joint is realigned , the toggles are secured . The advantage is the fiber can tolerate minor motion/stress, whereas rigid transsyndesmotic screws will break. Return to play is shortened significantly without the risk of of hardware failure or the need for a second procedure to remove a screw
