The guy has had alot more chances than any of us would have gotten in a real world occupation. If he's successful that just means one less person on the public dole.

I don't think so.
Depression and anxiety are for real.
People with symptoms tend to self medicate, which often leads to bigger problems.

He has not, to my knowledge, tried to hurt anyone.

I am rooting for Randy Gregory.

I too am rooting for Randy G. I can tell you from personal experience and a long battle with depression, it is the most difficult thing you will ever deal with in your life. Structure and deliberate effort is the key and everyday is a new challenge and adventure. God Bless Mr. Gregory in his life journey.

Many different forms of mental illness and self medication. Hopefully he prevails. I too am rooting for Randy Gregory. Dallas stuck by him too, big fan of that and Jerry Jones for doing so.

Wrong...there are plenty of CEOS and bosses that fondle their secretary, show up naked on the side of the road, snorted coke in college, and have addiction to alcohol or other drugs. Still they get to show up and "run" a company or business and if they can't do the job, they get a nice severance. The thing about the corporate world is if somebody hires you, and find out later you are a douche, and they spent hundreds of thousands and millions on you, they are also responsible for your behavior. So it is easier to cover up a **** high level employee and "move" them on, than admit your mistake.

As a guy who worked for other people for my first 7 years then a guy who has owned a business with multiple employees, I can say that there is not a single thing you listed that would have allowed me to remain employed or in business in my profession. Randy has been given lots of chances to get straight. I hope he makes the most of it this time around.

I guess you are in the wrong profession. You are probably right by "us", but that doesn't mean there are thousands of humans who are surrounded by money that get away with the same exploits. I mean drug and alcohol addiction are major issues present, past, and future in our country... viewing them as means to be thrown into a pit and left to die hasn't seemed to work in the past. If you have ever been drunk, ever been high you have no right to judge another person and their addiction...the only people who can judge are those who have abstained completely and those people probably have the wisdom to know they are just lucky to not have the context or urge.

I have a loved-one that has depression, and best I can figure out is that there is no way to really understand how difficult the struggle is unless you suffer from it. There are a lot of people that struggle with it. Stay strong brother.

Heard a podcast a couple years ago (it was either Freakonomics, Make Me Smart, or Planet Money, want to say it was Planet Money) that was talking about how the end of prohibition in 1933 was a huge tax boon that pulled the US out of the Great Depression much better than had the end of prohibition not occurred. They made the comparison to the financial crisis in the 2000s and said legalizing and taxing marijuana would have either soften the crisis's impacts and/or accelerated the recovery.

I'm no economist and it's been a while since I've heard that episode, but I found it interesting.

It's easier to just call him a weed head and stupid.
Do not need to read. He had like 7 second chances. J J got for him. If we never punish the kid how do you trust him again. The NFL needs to crack down and stop cowering to the PA. Hire better lawyers to gain some power back. No reason for a kid to have the power to keep his Job while he Fists the Leugue and it’s Rules and Regulations. Mary Jane will be just another issue to Kill the NFL. And If the NFL falls College football will follow. If RG wants to smoke Lettuce he can work at a 7 eleven In Boulder Colorado. I would hope the NFL was a big enough Deal it could make and enforce its on Rules. Kid should of been Gone Already.

This is a profession. His skills say he is more than qualified for the job.

He's smoking weed, not beating women, driving drunk and killing people or a major drug dealer.

You can wreck a car quite easily being high on weed, as a few people I know have done just that. But hopefully Gregory can win his battles off the field, even more so after football is over. When the structure you counted on for so many years of your life is gone, that's when more trouble can settle in. It would be great if RG has a life after football that is fulfilling and void of downfalls.
