Best part my parents appreciated was taking drivers ed as a freshman in High School and being able to drive my Sophomore year.

i too was old for my grade...june birthday. Was 18 all of senior year the turned 19 right after graduation.

May birthday doesnt explain being 20 three months after high school graduation. You were held back at some point, and I suspect Addie have done something for athletic advantage - like do 8th grade twice or something.
I was never held back. You could say they started me a year later than I could have gone to school, then i would have been increadibly young for my class. In this case I was old for my class.
her birthday is 9/2 so she likely was one of the oldest in her grade

Addie Deal DOB is 9/2/2005. Her DOB helps explain why she never played on a USA basketball team. She was too old to play with her fellow 2025 classmates. She would have needed to play with class of 2023 and 2024 players, which was likely a bridge too far. By way of comparison, JuJu Watkins, who has 2 college years under her belt, is less than 2 months older than Deal. JuJu's DOB is 7/15/2005.

It's clearly a list that was made before any games were played. Chloe Kitts is on there and her injury was announced just before the season started
I thought a watch list meant the player had been identified as a potential winner of whatever award. Deal is unlikely to average more than five minutes a game, if that, at least through the first half of the season. If you're not even close to starting for your own team, it's pretty crazy to be included on any "watch list." That's just dumb.
The idea of any watch list updating 4 games into the season is itself just dumb. Though you can go ahead and bet the farm that Addie will average more minutes than Chloe Kitts this season so she’s already not the most glaring addition.
I just don’t get why people are worried about this. Top programs have been getting undeserved mentions on these lists forever so why are we complaining now that we benefit from it? Lots of former athletic parents "redshirt" their kids at a very young age. Common practice everywhere. I wonder when we see some of these 5 star players (mens side) reclassify to start college earlier, they are actually going back to the school class level that they probably should have been at. Obviously Cooper Flagg was reclassed, but hes in the NBA now and is still 18
