Exactly.?
I'm almost 48.
Randolph Morris was, at the time, the best center UK had had since Sam Bowie. Objective, statistical, measurable, facts.
Imagine if he had tried. Might have averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds a game instead of 17 and 8.

Wish Meeks would have stayed for Cal. That would have been awesome. Can't help but wonder what Cal would have done with him and Crawford. Got to think they'd have had much better careers as pros.
What's Matt Jones got to do with anything?
No he wouldn't had, in fact he would have been shown the door or never been here. Cal will not coach someone like Rondo, he could of had him at Memphis but didn't want him on his team. This insane assumption that Rondo's short comings are always Tubby's fault needs to end. Rondo was a huge problem that no other coach wanted, his home town school made up a phony recruitment just to avoid giving him a chance. After his HS coach begged Tubby to take him he ended up here. Tubby was always too nice to a fault and the only thing that kid did here was what his handlers told him to.

One more thing, Cal specializes in troubled personalities. To think he would have "shown Rondo the door" is a huge stretch. Not just his players at Memphis, but CousIns wasn't a piece of cake either.
Cal would have maintained Rondo like any other alpha with an attitude problem. He absolutely would have signed him and handled it.
Never saw one incident at U.K. With Rondo that made him as bad as you're making it. I was a kid then of course.
Tubby held Rondo back badly. That is settled science.
As you said you were a kid. There were plenty of examples while he was here.
I was, but an older kid. I think I was 17 or 18 when he signed.
I just don't think Cal would have kicked him out. Not his style.
Cal has said before that he will not recruit a player like that and he proved it when he passed on Rondo coming out of HS. Rondo has been a head case at every single stop of his career and it's like you're trying to argue against that. No need to look for excuses, he is what he is.
You're serious?
I figured you got tired of being called Jason Spears. Just switching it up a little.

His name is Phil Spears but apparently "not related"

Eh.
Close. Last name does start with an S.

Are you the real Smitty?
Yeah, I read fine and comprendo...lmao..:gun:You don't read very well...:scream:
I am NOT a Tubby basher. But this one ^, (Rondo) I can agree with!
Tubby did well with the players who weren't elite athletes, who were missing something NBA likes. Daniels, Estill, Hayes, Bogans, Bradley, Fitch. Those were good fits for Tubby. The top prospect guys, Rondo, Stone, Morris, were not.
