I'd LOVE Lucas,.. OR Rondo!!! Either/Or would be a smart hire,..for a change!!! I also like Dennis Gates (Missouri). All of them young and smart.Recruiting is important to college basketball and Lucas is easily one of the best in the game. Give him Kentucky’s resources and we’re back to having Cal-esque recruiting classes with a younger, hungrier coach.
I'm surprised Pat never tried to sign Rondo in his later yearsRondo probably has the best UK basketball mind for the game of anybody since Pat Riley
+Jerry StackhouseA few others that come to mind are Isiah Thomas, Avery Johnson, Sidney Moncrief, Mike Woodson and Willis Reed.
You’re absolutely right. Hiring coaches with no prior CBB experience because they were big shot NBAers has always been a prescription for failure. Yet schools still occasionally keep foolishly trying it.
Damn that gif is making me claustrophobic.
This is what I've always understood, too.Rondo does not have a degree and you have to have one to coach in college
I guess that was before my time. Did it not work out? This is what I've always understood, too.
It is good that he recently completed his.
With his son, you cannot help but remember Wade Houston at Tennessee to coach Allan.
Allan was an exceptional player, but Tennessee struggled as a team. I did NOT intend to suggest that Rando coaching at KY would not be a good idea ... it was that the possibility of his coaching at KY with his son to follow reminded me of Wade and Allan at Tennessee. Hire a coach, get his son ...I guess that was before my time. Did it not work out?
Duke went with kind of the same model as Arizona. While the coach didn't have any head coach accomplishments, they were longtime assistants under an elite coach while winning accomplishments. Again, both were very familiar with coaching the college game, already excellent recruiters, etc. Scheyer earned his stripes through being trained to be the lead guy. What was his as you wrote "coaching accomplishment"? I'm simply using your words.
Rondos son is going to be a stud. Would be nice to have them both here at the same timeAllan was an exceptional player, but Tennessee struggled as a team. I did NOT intend to suggest that Rando coaching at KY would not be a good idea ... it was that the possibility of his coaching at KY with his son to follow reminded me of Wade and Allan at Tennessee. Hire a coach, get his son ...

I wanted Rondo.Since there's really no good news anytime I log on here I want to make a friendly wager with anyone that Rajon Rondo will be a NBA coach in the next few years.
Meanwhile Kentuckys fanbase says noooooo to somebody like him while justifying Mark Pope and his 9th place sec. Even the ones that don't think Mark Pope is the guy feel like the only option for UK is the previous national championship winner.
Like the Michigan coach and uconn coach are the only options. Kentucky and it's fanbase are stuck in the 1950s.
Also the amount of times I've seen jai lucas be mentioned on here but Rondo can't get a chance?
Do y'all know Rondo is one of the most respected basketball players ever? He's not good enough for Kentucky but he will be good enough for the NBA.
Sorry just another venting post thinking about how Pope won't even get a GM or act like a modern program.

We in the 1000 year reign yet?THIS IS ANOTHER FAKE troll! Asking all UK fans to avoid posting in these threads. We are in the process of weeding out these new trolls. Thanks
You don't think Miami has resources ever major team now has resources.Recruiting is important to college basketball and Lucas is easily one of the best in the game. Give him Kentucky’s resources and we’re back to having Cal-esque recruiting classes with a younger, hungrier coach.
Rondo went back and got his degree and stated the sole purpose was to possibly get into college coaching.Rondo does not have a degree and you have to have one to coach in college
Ummm. Ok. Not a troll just because you don't like me... weirdTHIS IS ANOTHER FAKE troll! Asking all UK fans to avoid posting in these threads. We are in the process of weeding out these new trolls. Thanks
