does it seem like waiting on his commitment was bogging down our recruiting as a whole?

I'm no expert by a long shot and maybe this is just the way it would have played out regardless, but it seems like waiting on him was kind of holding everything up. Once he committed to UGA and we moved on things just went BOOM!

And had he committed to Nebraska, things could very well have went boom for Nebraska too.

We will never really know though.

I think having a QB committed is the common denominator. That is what gets things rolling, especially a top ranked QB, or an Elite 11 QB.

I think it was a timing thing. At about the same time, Rhule apparently decided to move on from some of the high rated kids they were pursuing when those trails went cold and moved on to other prospects. Then as those June visits and camps were coming up, you get a commitment from a dynamic in-state QB like Kaelin who also happens to be a fantastic leader & peer recruiter.

You are correct in a lot of ways, lots of recruits wait to see a QB commit. Once DR finally made a decision then Rhule went after Danny Dimes .He literally became our Best recruiter getting his teammates and I believe swaying Carter enough to stay home. The QB is usually the best peer Recruiter. DR was just doing it for another school when he was here.

We can do so much better than “Dimes” for a nickname

Maybe this is my memory failing me and it's revisionist history but it was always crazy to me how it felt like the previous staff just wasn't really interested in recruiting most Omaha metro players. It felt like a huge recruiting area just forfeited because of how poorly the relationships apparently were. It's baffling to alienate the largest population area in your state.

If nothing else, it's nice that Rhule and his staff appear to have repaired that relationship because there are some good, quality prospects that come out of there every single year. Not pretending that they'll win every recruiting battle going forward but at least this year, when there's a historically large number of D1 prospects in the state, that Rhule and his staff are locking the borders down for the most part. Nebraska under Frost just punted on recruiting Nebraska players unless they were small town prospects. It was always very weird to me.

you could've just stopped at "wasn't really interested"

needless to say, I agree

For clarification … “dimes” doesn’t mean 10 cents in this situation. If someone makes a good pass, some will reference it as a “dime” whereas the pass was right on target and potentially a high velocity as well.

Also could refer to an attractive girl or for Danny could mean that he goes steady with many hot girls.

Thanks,

Also could stand for dime bags, and it sounds very unimaginative.

We can do much better.

How about we let him grow and earn a nickname. Kind of like rivalries, they must develop, not be contrived.

a.) no sh*t

b.) the nickname was already taken by the Giants QB 4 years ago

some of us are more clever than to accept a lame retread

I thought that was clear when I used “goes steady”. That’s not what the kids call it anymore … fyi.

I was not.
Your arguments are rarely logical, and when you get called out, you resort to silly memes.

I imagine you were one of the kids in math class that never could solve story problems either.

You really kind of smell like a troll.

It was a joke from the jump. So my apologies for it not fitting your brand of humor. I don’t shy away from getting called on anything and I’m here to have fun and engage in discussion and crack some jokes.

If you and Kong want to keep following me around and dogging on my comments go for it. It’s fun for me and it’s obviously fun for you too.

I commented in the Carter thread that today was Tuesday … you guys may want to go argue that too.

As a sidenote this was an oddly specific burn. I mean, is this really how you playfully jab others during banter?

I will answer,
I have never followed you around this board. I responded to two seperate threads today where I found your argument wrong, then upon being shown it was wrong you became obtuse. I responded with my take on why I thought Missouri a rival. I never once directed a word at you.
You were wrong there, and this equally inane argument over nicknames caused me to react and respond to you directly.

As far as you believing Kong and I are friends conspiring to stalk you, this could not be furthur from the truth.

As far as whether I do, “personal burns”, in banter, obviously I do. I have read your posts since you began here 95 days or so ago, and reached a conclusion that you are either a troll, or someone that really is not very logical, or informed.

There is your answer.
Feel free to put me on ignore so as not to be offended in the future.

You can go back to thread - I never once said that CO and Mizzou were not rivals. Not sure how I was wrong. Was only stating that many on the board say that Nebraska is too good to have Iowa as a rival but we readily accept Mizzou as one. That logic confused me as Mizzou is a historical bottom feeder. Not sure how I became obtuse, but will go back and see. Not sure why I would put you on ignore - but feel free to do so to me since I’m apparently a troll.

If I bring peace and unity to spectrumalaska and king-Kong then I’ve had a good day. It’s who am and what I do. Good times - looking forward to the next one!

You must be young. From the early 1960s until the mid-80s (when Missouri really fell off), Missouri vs Nebraska produced some fantastic hard-fought games. Do yourself a favor and watch the 74 (TO's first loss), 75 (Bumerooski), or 78 (James Wilder) games. Then ask your dad who is this guy named Randy Jostes

nobody ever say miracles can't happen

My arm does not look like that, nor did I try to tag team “Maxi”, with you.

I always thought my analogy of story problems and logic sound. Just never used it here before.

I am so far doing well on my new journey of not having you on ignore.

Cheers, Kong!

Edit: TO's first loss was the 73 game. That one is worth watching too
