In 2009, Sessions himself told me that "When I got to Washington, there had been an orchestrated campaign to smear my record, and it was executed with great care. And I, frankly, was a babe in the woods and wasn't sufficiently prepared for it." For that reason, when Sessions got to the Senate he has always been more deferential toward nominations than most of his GOP colleagues. For instance, he was one of the only Republican senators to support Eric Holder's nomination for attorney general.

Sessions's actual track record certainly doesn't suggest he's a racist. Quite the opposite, in fact. As a U.S. Attorney he filed several cases to desegregate schools in Alabama. And he also prosecuted the head of the state Klan, Henry Francis Hays, for abducting and killing Michael Donald, a black teenager selected at random. Sessions insisted on the death penalty for Hays. When he was later elected the state Attorney General, Sessions followed through and made sure Hays was executed. The successful prosecution of Hays also led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, effectively breaking the back of the KKK in Alabama.

Sure sounds like this guy is racist if you are a far left radical that sees racism everywhere. BTW, the guy who accused him of racists remarks 30 years ago, was later indicted for bribery. I am sick and tired of liberals accusing anyone and everyone of racism. It demeans the term and when real racism occurs, no one will believe them.

One of the jokes that Sessions told was that he actually like the Klan until he found out they smoked marijuana. If the idiot that later got indicted was too stupid to recognize this as an obvious joke, then the man is simply an ignorant fool and looking for ways to derail sessions. Frankly I don't believe him to be an idiot, I believe him to be a liar. He knew this was a joke.

He is a peach of guy. Just misunderstood that all :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Let me point out a few facts someone as intellectually challenged as you.

1. The person claiming that he was a racist was himself indicted on bribery charges.
2. He Sought and received the death penalty for the KKK head who killed a black boy.
3. That was instrumental in getting the family a $7 million award from the KKK. This Award destroyed the KKK in Alabama.
4. He voted for Eric Holder
5. Libs like you denigrate him with no basis in fact.

If you'd like to make a small wager, I'll be happy to bet that he will be confirmed by the U.S. Senate with Democrat votes. In fact Manchin has already come out in support.

After the corruption of Holder and Lynch, Sessions will be a refreshing break and allow the Department of Justice to return to one that can be trusted and respected.
