Did ESPN filter the crowd noise because from looking at the fans it looked loud but the background noise was really muted on TV? I guess ESPN really doesn't want anything positive to come from a B1G game.... did I really say B1G and not Rutgers ... like now we're one of the B1G boys... awesome game to watch..this will be a good season for us.

Two or three times down the stretch it was defending at court level from the student sections. Loudest it’s been since Wisconsin win in 2014. Hopefully we have another great atmosphere next week in another huge game.

I don’t mind the mics down and I’m not a big conspiracy type but I do believe in agendas and ESPN definitely has one. I didn’t once hear them say the crowd was loud. They complimented Rutgers like you compliment a kid just before you send him to the kids table. Can’t wait till the Conference games start.

And, as I mentioned in another thread, I thought the announcers seemed stunned that Rutgers didn't suck and is actually a darn solid team.
They save all the extra noise on tape and pipe it in for the dook Home games

SERIOUSLY? This conspiracy BS has got to stop.
In the opening minute or two of every TV game, you can tell if you'll be able to hear the crowd or not. My guess is it has something to do with how well they can hear the announcers in the truck. Crowd noise is fun, but if you can't hear the announcers, why have them? (Yes, I know the answer to that, but I'm thinking from the TV guys' perspective here.) At some games you hear the crowd very well, at others it seems muted. I mean, you can tell it's there, but it's muted. But this "doesn't want anything positive" from a Big Ten game is beyond silly. They are carrying the game and would like somebody to watch it.
The background noise was definitely filtered down. That's without question. I highly doubt it was done as a conspiracy against Rutgers though. Probably so you could hear the commentators clearly.
I sincerely doubt any conspiracy. That said, the noise was deafening. I had trouble talking to my friend next to me.
actually this is a quite common occurrence. If the stadium or arena noise is too loud they will lower the volume so that the tv commentary can be legible. Having the crowd noise on tv does nothing to affect the team, and they care more about their commentators. Happens a lot in soccer, they've done it for college football and even MNF. It's not that surprising honestly
At this point I really wouldn't put anything past them. They perpetrated quite a little witch hunt around here not too long ago. Can't say the same for UNC and Louisville. We had beat reporters here for weeks, an Outside the lines feature done specifically on us, we were constantly the lead story and it was on the ticker nonstop. I guess hookers, paying players and no show classes don't rate as much. Or could it be that those are their properties?
I wasn't doubting the fact that the audio may have been muffled purposely, that definitely happens a lot for reasons you mentioned. My post was more about the claim that it was done specifically to "make the Big Ten look bad."
I watched the game on tape as soon as I got home. I thought wow the sound is really muffled compared to how loud it was in the RAC. As I said earlier I had a bit of a headache afterwards, in part because I was loud too. Make no mistake it was loud and some of the RU chants were like the old days. One last point some of the recorded music was bordering on too loud, worse than a concert.
