Yes, pretty neat, now with no need for the corner practice courts on either side of the student section given the new practice facility, softball and field hockey are getting their own locker rooms in that back corner of the RAC. Makes perfect sense, their fields are right across the road from that corner of the building. Hopefully that “lower level” they put up leaves room for wrap around student seating above it up to the pole

This would possibly hinder adding seats in this area or is that still possible

The are it is being put in is no where near the court. There wouldn’t be any seats back there, they would be blocked by the 300s wall

Since they are new locker rooms I’m assuming there will be new plumbing on that side of the RAC. While they’re at it, how about Pat builds new bathrooms on that side of the concourse?
That was my suggestion on The Round Table...build them on top so you can have something at the back/Hospital Road part of the RAC.

The problem with corner seating is the huge cement columns.. we need a plan to remove the roof and columns and install a roof supported externally. Then you can do whatever you want with teh space beneath it.

I actually disagree, I like the columns and feel like it’s part of the arena’s charm and identity. Plus the big column video boards all facing in are pretty cool and actually unique. While I don’t think they’ll ever make a “permanent” concrete student section due to events at the RAC like Dance Marathon that use that area for the stage / all the career fairs, the R awards, etc, I do think they can add “wings” to the top areas on either side of those bleachers and extend the student section out to basically the columns

I have to imagine that the cost of doing something like that will be close to "why dont you just build a new arena" type of price tag

This is very feasible and I’ve asked about/suggested that before too.

If anyone has ever been...Monmouth does something similar at their place...

They do it with seats on one end and bleacher style at the other.

Like The Alamodome in San Antonio ? If that is what they are, can it be done after ? Would it cost a ton ?

Don't know the cost... whatever it was at the Alamodome multiply by at least 3... this is Jersey. The noise level would be affected.. negatively.. but perhaps more fans would make up for it. The problem doing it here is snow.. heavy wet snow.. we'd probably have to do something like the Denver airport... at least in shape.. have snow/rain slide off

have you ever sat in an obstructed view seat? There is a wedge of seats in lower 200s that cannot see the near basket area because of the columns. Those columns are what prevents wrap-around seating that exists in every new arena. You never see anyone, anymore, installing columns like that.. for a reason... so why not remove them?
