Sad news, RIP.
There was also a Husker great by the same name who was a DB on the '70 and '71 title teams. When I saw the thread title, I though it might be about him.
That Dave Mason had three pick-sixes in one year, which is pretty remarkable. I believe it was an NCAA record at the time, but has since been broken in the era of longer seasons.
