Cal is going to have to start over with a new roster next year. But Cal did not have them ready to play today for sure. I thought the game plan and sets we used sucked.

Pearl had a great game plan for exploiting matchups. We didn't.

Can't disagree with that.

7 out of the last 10 years we've made the Elite 8.

Players win games. Herro, Hagans, and Quickley were awful today. Both offensively and defensively. Auburn's guards were unbelievable. If we hit a couple of wide open 3's and miss a couple less FTs in that second half we win.

Coach Cal can't shoot FTs and make 3's for these guys. Cal put us in a very good position to win and our players didn't make plays.

Great post. The trolls come out when we lose. I always try to avoid the board after a loss but never end up doing it. I probably will take a couple days off at least and let things cool down.

But overall, Cal is a top 5 coach in the game. 7 Elite 8 and 4 Final Fours in 10 years...that’s better than all other coaches over that time frame.

We compete every year. Every single year we are in the discussion.

Asking for more than that is just insanity and blatantly unrealistic.

Not a single coach out there that we could realistically land would be a better fit or do any better than the HOFer we have currently.

Wouldn’t trade Cal for anyone.

I'm not saying fire Cal, but how many Elite 8's we make is not very important to me. Cal got out coached today plain and simple. We had an advantage inside the last two games and didn't exploit it nearly enough. That's on Cal. We ran the same sets we always run. Instead of adjusting to pound the ball inside against weaker players, we took way too many jump shots. I don't think that is an execution problem. I think that is a strategy problem from the coaching staff.
We missed wide open shots. The point of running offense is to get open shots. Mission accomplished. Plus we threw inside a ton but our guards couldn't keep them honest so they packed it in.

Ya chillout guys. He win #2. It will come. This team lacked speed. The dragon is coming. The guys are crushed. Lets get off their backs. And appreciate. How damn hard they actually worked for us. They tried very hard to win 2019 national championship. U can see it at end. They begging to survive. It happens. Winning 6 is extremely hard. Get off cal back. We hired him turn program around. He has done that. This sob situation. Aint over yet. We becoming defense team more n more. When offense matches. We survive 6 once again. Dont forget 2012 reasons why we won.

I couldn't agree more. Of course I'd like to win the championship every year but it's unrealistic. We finally had a good FT shooting team this year and they choked.

I will never let another basketball game upset me like the Wisconsin loss. There are other more important things in life. I really hate we lost today. Wanted RT to make it to the Final Four.

Cal will never again have the amount of talent he had in 2015 . It really stings to see Devin Booker putting up 50-point games in the NBA when he only averaged 21 minutes a game here while playing in the platoon.

Should we just shut the program down when Cal leaves? I am not in the camp of Cal needs to go but he is not beyond questioning. Some act like there can never be another coach at UK to have success.

I think when Cal does leave, UK will take a significant step back but I think that will be because there is not going to be a foundation. With the constant roster turnover the next guy is going to have a Herculean task to get a team pulled together.

Bull! Cal has stated numerous times he doesn’t have players practice free throws, that it’s something they just need to do on their own time. When you have nothing but 18-19 year olds you have to MAKE them practice. How many titles is he going to cost himself before he gets it thru his thick head? He probably never will because he’d have to admit he was wrong and his ego would never let that happen.

Plus you mention their guards being outstanding but Auburn didn’t play anywhere near as well as they did the previous two games plus didn’t have their best player. Yet we still find a way to lose.
We were a good FT shooting team this year. We just missed them today nothing Cal could've done to change that.

This year may be Cal’s best coaching job.

Is is it really? It was a good team, but in the end this team did not win ANYTHING of actual consequence this year, not even at the SEC conference level. We failed to win the SEC regular season title, we failed to win the SEC tourney title, and we failed to reach the final four.

For a team that was unanimously picked Top 3 in the nation pre-season I'm not sure how that equates to "best coaching job."

So it's okay to bash the player but wrong to bash the coach?Okay.
I've criticized Cal before. Today I thought he did a good job. He was coaching his *** off on the sideline. I'm not bashing any players I love them all but as a team we didn't make the plays needed to win the game.

that is a huge fear I have to. The year following Cal we're going to be playing walk-ons

I don’t see it bashing the players when you say they didn’t make free throws , shots or turnovers. I’ve coached before and sometimes it’s not your day even with the right game plan. Auburn was just better today

I mean, at some point, at least some of the blame needs to start going on Coach Cal. I love him but Tubby was really good at going to Sweet 16s and Elite 8s too for a while there..and he took a lot of the blame.

Same phenomenon. Limited mental status demanding a scape goat

We were better than usual but still not good. Our average was inflated greatly by Herro.

Still, ask yourself why is it our guys always choke at the line in the tournament. It’s every year. Regardless of the players. But the coach stays the same.

Yep, we were the preseason #2 team in the country and ended up with nothing to show for it. I would hardly call that Cal's best job of coaching.

Everything rises and falls with leadership. I don't like to be overly critical of our fine coach. Here is the truth. He has strengths and weaknesses. He is the best recruiter, we have ever had in our history. He is a good representative of the University. He is a players first coach. However, he is not a good in game coach. He just is not. In other words, we will not win big games because of his coaching ability and cleverness in making adjustments.

Cal’s a good coach. Anyone that says different is crazy but the guy has his faults. Any coach does for that matter. His main weakness is his stubbornness. He refuses to make necessary adjustments whether it’s with building rosters, or with his offensive philosophies. Playing stall ball with a young team loaded with McDonald’s All Americans is crazy, IMO.

********, dude..I love Coach Cal and want him here but he's gotta change some things or he will get run off eventually. Elite 8s and Sweet 16s are nice..banner years, no doubt..but we're in the business of hanging Final 4, Runner Up, and National Title banners..not Elite 8s and Sweet 16s, bud. Ask Tubby. Now, if you're okay with Sweet 16 and Elite 8 banners, fine by me..but just sit back and watch Puke and UNCheat catch or pass us in National Titles and don't complain.

If you look at our team I think we got more from them than what they are being credited for. I think they were definitely over rated in the beginning and the team grew as individuals grew . Hate seeing the season end

Gotta change? You going to make him? He doesn't have to do anything. Well, except listen to you cry.

Sorry you didn’t get your NCAA participation trophy this year. This is for big boys. 67 losers. One winner. Grow up.

What if, Coach Cal has to coach high schoolers who don't have college experience and some how convinces them that they can make the elite 8....7 times in 10 years?

Why is that hard to accept?

You may not agree but he has done wonders for this program.

You grow up, buddy. I ain't saying he has to change for me, dumbass. I don't normally name call but that's what you're acting like. Have a look around, bud..check all over social media..Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, etc...even some on this board..the honeymoon of 2010-2015 is over for A LOT of fans no matter what you want to think. If we keep falling in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 with elite talent (no matter how young), Coach Cal will eventually be ran off like Tubby Smith..not by me but by this fanbase.

All good son. If you’re ok with what you see then by all means, continue drinking the kool-aid. That’s your prerogative but please don’t tell me what to do or how to feel.

the problem with Cal is he runs off the players to the NBA. Other schools can get them to stay, hell the ones that have no business in going leave. I think that is why people are down on Cal. If most of these players stay and would have a foundation for next year, people would stay wait until next year as it is they all leave and we don't know who will be here next year

It’s all the same idiots. The outspoken social media in regards to this fan base is largely sadsack zealots, immature individuals deprived of entitlement or gamblers that made stupid bets. Today’s outcome was quite predictable. That was the hottest team in the nation that beat us. Then we have weirdos trying to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Dude you go on. Laughing at you is a nice consolation for me.

Well, he needs to is all I'm saying. You know just as well as I do that Sweet 16s and Elite 8s are nice and all but won't be accepted as good enough by this fan base as a whole after a while. And I wouldn't be calling anyone a "fool" or "baby" if I were you when you can't even take the least little criticism of Coach Cal. What's he, a relative of yours ? Pathetic.
