Apparently, Texas doesn't allow high school football players to get paid. As the #1 overall QB, he would likely lose a lot of money to stay in high school. So, he is most likely going to skip senior year and go to Ohio State. It seems he can graduate and start college this fall.

I bet Holy Kombucha has already gotten well over $1M of free exposure across the country from this story. I know I googled it. Genius marketing move to be the first and take advantage of the headlines, whether Ewers takes the deal or not.

Milo’s deal with Nix was early enough that they got lots of exposure too. If Polk’s Sausage signs Nathan Pickering tmrw (Picky people like Pickering pick Polk’s, amirite??), it wouldn’t be worth as much because they missed the extra exposure from being early or the first.

So HS players in TX can't have a job? That's news to me. Not sure how to mandate that. I guess it's like NCAA where you can be paid, you just can't be eligible for sports? What about summer jobs?

Sorry, I should have written more clearly. They are allowed to have normal jobs. They are apparently not allowed to make money in the context of NIL.

Is it really gullibility? How many times on this board and others when people are seeking business recommendations for deep sea charters, septic tank clean outs, architectures, etc does somebody here give a recommendation and add the tag that they're good bulldogs? If said business becomes publicly known for giving solid NIL deals to our players and recruits to get and keep them in school would not sway more people to possibly utilize their business? The owner doesn't give a wet fart whether or not the kid actually likes or uses his product or service. He just cares that the public knows hes a "good bulldog" and may then want to do utilize them.

If someone engages a business just and only because said company are good Bulldogs that push money out the door for NIL's, that someone is 100% gullible. I'll take a really good heat & air company whose owner graduated from the Scooba Tech Vo-tech Center over an average heat & air company owned by "good Bulldogs" who pimp NIL money every time.

If said Bulldog owned company does excellent work, has great prices and are good Bulldogs that's a different story and at that point has nothing to do with the NIL dollar$ to me
