From Carino:

FIVE OBSERVATIONS

1. Antonio Chol, wow

Aside from the ever-dominant Omoruyi, the best player on the court Friday was the last addition to this season’s roster.

Antonio Chol, a 6-foot-8 forward who committed in late July, was draining threes, finishing in the lane and crashing the boards. Pikiell said this was not an anomaly; Chol has surprised the heck out of everyone since arriving in late August.

I've been beating the drum about what a good pickup this young man was. Very very high ceiling

Team checks all the boxes:

Slow footed white guys that can shoot threes and would be great running some “Princeton” sets and a zone D at the other end ✔️✔️✔️

Twitchy athleticism at multiple positions making for good to great defense ✔️✔️✔️✔️

Muscular shoulders and buttocks at the 4 and 5 spots ✔️ (some guys could still use at least 5 pounds of muscle but shouldn’t pose a huge problem except in maybe a couple of games)

Team length to help with rebounding and defense to compensate for lack of dominant rebounder ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

Have a good distributor of the basketball (PM) with the hope another emerges ✔️

I suppose the lack of a 1 on 1 off-the-dribble offensive player is a weakness until further development happens. But ball movement could overcome much of this weakness.

Have you seen a lot of Chol playing?
No, just based on highlights from back when it was first reported we offered. He's got the height, length, frame, dribbling, and 3 level scoring ability. The true perimeter versatile stretch 4 type we have never had.

Simpson Harper Griffiths Chol Kante potential lineup in a few years could be scary good

Like Larry Bird… Bird moved his feet better than it looked like he did. He’s not gonna be a shot off his own dribble guy in the Big Ten at 6’4” though.
Meh-
We all obviously know what you mean in a positive sense.
What I don’t know is if you know Cam is slow..
I’m assuming the other “slow white guy” is Paul

I watched Cam’s highlights. Shorter version of Bird is what came to mind immediately.

Paul is more crafty than quick…with a good low and hard dribble when needed. He plays with a good bend in traffic.

Reiber and Palm are basically just knock down three point shooters…
And so is Fulin if you a need a three in a pinch with guys fouled out in triple OT.

1. Absolutely ZERO reason to reference someone's skin color. Totally irrelevant to any part of the conversation.
2. We will have 25 or so games this year against major conference competition. It is then, and only then, will we have an answer about our offense. Hope is great and is better than the alternative, but......

Replacing Ron and Geo is not going to be easy. I think we are going to be an NCAAT team again. Those two statements are not mutually exclusive.

True. I was lazy. I should have said that, on average, folks from colder climates have shorter Achilles’ tendons than folks from subsaharan Africa…as per actual university studies. And, Achilles talent can be an important talent to have if one is attempting to excel at certain sports as per actual studies due to more efficiency a longer tendon can provide. This is actual science.
And as a Caucasian with small Achilles’ tendons I know this first hand.
Chill out dude…everyone knows basketball incorporates elements other than just running and jumping.

"research indicates that ethnic groups such as African-Americans tend to have longer limbs and shorter calf muscles and thus longer Achilles tendons than Caucasians, which may be a contributing factor to why some African-Americans seem to excel in sports involving running"

Its a stereotype not the science your quoting. You haven't seen a player but you assume that he is slow or un athletic because he is white. Evaluate players on their talent not their color.

Get back to me when Palmquist shows he is a knock down 3 pt shooter.
