**** him, his family and his dog for leaving us in a lurch after Dan went to bat for him for a raise last year. To leave us before the bowl game. Dick move and I hope he fails miserably at Florida.

I'm don't now. That's all.

Hope he feels like **** for leaving before the bowl game. Chavis left for a lateral job too but had the balls to finish the job, albiet not giving a **** in the process.

I agree, but some teams have had it much worse. Some lose their head coach right before the bowl game, and in some cases it was a BCS bowl. Didn't that happen to Cincinnati, or maybe Louisville, a few years ago before the Sugar Bowl?

Stayed through their bowl game. It may have been distracting with all the rumors but at least he stayed. Collins is a piece of ****.

Chavis was a lame duck in their bowl game. Although we haven't looked our best it still has to be better than a coach who doesn't have his heart in it.

Collins wasnt going to help us today. His d was pretty good at times but could have been better.

He was looking for a bigger better deal and we provided that opportunity. Next up and commer will look at is and think about our success.

Hope he does well. Best advertising we can get.

That would be Brian Kelly. Capped off Cincinnati's undefeated Sugar Bowl season by jetting to South Bend to accept the Notre Dame job minutes before their senior banquet.
Louisville had some sort of John L. Smith/Petrino/Tubberville drama during a bowl game one year?

I understand what you're saying. I'm willing to bet the D we are running are the same schemes Collins would have called.

However, what concerns me more is the lack of awareness and discipline by the D - I blame that on position coaches. To me that's what concerning, coaching at the basic level.

Defensively, we are undisciplined at EVERY position. More talent than we know what to do with. I say we go after the secondary coach at Ole Miss. I'm not kidding.

Speaking as just a humble high school football coach I would have done exactly what Collins did. Mullen threw him under the bus after the egg bowl big time. Any defense coach at any level would have had a problem with it too that's not something you do and then get all surprised or mad when that coach takes the next job he's offered.

As it's been stated many times over and over here, listen/read the entire press conference not just what the CL put up. Mullen took plenty of responsibility in the Egg Bowl loss.

In summation, read more, post less, and your and idiot, dubmass.

You're not the only one. He's getting a little heat on the Twit, especially after his last tweet wishing the "PSYCHOdefense" the best of luck and how they have meant everything to him for the past 4 years.

17 him.

It's doesn't matter when you throw your dc under the bus like that it shows what kind of coach he is. He took plenty of credit but you don't serve up your assistant like that and the fact that he did that proves all that family stuff he sell or Megan sells is ********. Mullen is in it to get his cant get mad at him for it but he's a me man show in his own mind.

It is entirely possible that we will not retain one defensive coach this offseason. Hell, a few weeks ago it looked likely. Be interesting to see how that shakes out after the crew get back from South Beach.

No actually every single member of my family went to msu including my dad teaching there my brother playing baseball there and I walked on the football team. I have been going to games at Scott field since I was born and loved every minute of it. I will wager no body on this message board loves msu more than me. I just think that this loss should be humbling to Mullen hopefully it makes him a little more aware of what he says about good assisntant coaches. His sacrifice of Collins had a major impact on losing this game and that is concerning to me sorry if I am in minority on that.

Does anyone else think it should be impermissible for coaches to be contacted in any way whatsoever, through agents or otherwise, before the current season is completely over? Maybe sour grapes, and I know it would be hard, if not impossible, to police. But the tail end of our season was 17ed by Collins knowing he was bouncing at least after the regular season ended and likely even before the Egg Bowl, and that just doesn't seem right by the spirit of the game.

Wasn't a big fan of Collins thought he was ok not great but wasn't worth the 625k he was getting. Now if he got his panty's in a wad because his defense played like crap against ole ms and was called out well then he needs to grow a pair. Personally he used us as stepping stone and I'm not disappointed he's gone.
Willing to bet Florida's defense will regress with him.

Dan was called the day before Collins left. When the news came out, I said he should have said "after Christmas" and taken him off the recruiting trail. He's still being paid and he could have been used in game planning and coaching the LBs on the 3-option. Dan's expertise proved not enough.

I don't care if you're Mark Keenum. Saying Mullen and his family don't care about MSU just because he called out a poor performance by his DC makes you a troll.

If you get paid 6 figures or more to do a job, you should welcome getting called out for it every single time. It's a 2 way street. We all say you should take ownership for your mistakes... Geoff just jumped ship. I'd rather have a head coach that calls out his staff because they didn't perform their job to the caliber that they're paid than the assistant coach that doesn't take ownership and jumps ship to Florida

I think Collins was leaving after this season regardless of how the season turned out. He hasn't stayed anywhere more than 3 years and he was able to parlay the MSU DC job into a higher paying, higher profile position.

WRONR WRONG WRONG WRONG.....WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG....

You're wrong....you're wrong .... (Scrubs reference)

Mullen pointed out the failure of the whole coaching staff and specifically pointed HIMSELF out in that press conference. Collins gets paid over half-a-million a year to put (at least) a decent defense on the field. The fact that he got butt hurt over the Head Coach saying that the coaching staff screwed up tells me everything I need to know about Collins. Perhaps he should buy some tampons for that bleeding ******.

Maybe he will find a place that does nothing but positively affirms his greatness and he will be happy for the rest of his days. Honestly, I think Mullen requires the same intensity and work ethic from his coaches as he does from his players. Maybe some assistance coaches don't like that. But that's how you win.

Mullen is a good coach but let's be honest he crumbles in big games against good teams. He beat some decent teams this year that mostly turned out to be not really that good( auburn a and m lsu) but when things are on the line we crumble every single time under Mullen. Reference a shot at the playoff against ole miss crumble. Alabama well we all know what happened there. Name a big game in his career at state that he has won when things mattered? A gator bowl a few years ago against a Michigan team that didn't want to be there. He's a good coach and all but maybe just maybe he's not the greatest coach in America and maybe he's not the savior you guys seem to all want. With Mullen we can be a good team but we will never be a great time because we won't big games. He crumbles when there is real pressure. Mullen acted like a child after the ole miss now he did go back and take credit and all that. You can't start a conversation with kiss my *** apologize for it later and act like nothing was ever said.

Boy you keep harping on his comments after the UM game. Even after several have called you out for not acknowledging his ENTIRE statement all around including himself. I'm sorry but if those comments rubbed a coach wrong he needs to change profession. And yes I coach as well and thought in FULL context it was fine. A whole lot better than continually throwing players under the bus and pushing the getting better players after a loss to a coach's own team.

I'm sorry but it pales in comparison to the bus Freeze threw Wallace under.
