I do NOT mean this to sound racial but I have often wondered why State has rarely had really top notch Caucasian OL over the years? I do realize that other parts of the country may not have the number of AA we do in the SE but looking at teams like Texas Tech, Mizzou, Ok, Texas, BYU, Utah, Boise, etc. - teams we would love to emulate in offensive philosophy - have majority white offensive linemen. Have we simply never recruited them? Is it because they are in the midwest, west, and southwest? Are there just not many good white OL in the SE to choose from?

In Texas, blacks are about 10% of the population. In Mississippi it's what, 40%? So it seems it would be four times as likely. Add in socioeconomic factors, etc, and there is your answer. Hell, you've signed a few. Wasn't there one or two in your famed "four horsemen" class a couple years ago?

I was simply making an observation. I know we've had them in the past but they just "seem" to be few and far between. I just remember watching Texas Tech beat Texas and noticed that Tech's starting 5 OL and their TE were all white. As I said, I'm not making this racial.....merely making conversation. OP is probably right, it is a numbers thing.

Texas Tech's all-white OL got their asses kicked by an Oklahoma defense that's giving up 25 points per game. Texas Tech did score 21 points against them, but 14 of those were after they were already down by 40.

The fact is, we have a mostly black OL for the same reason we have a mostly black team. Crxxm wasn't able to recruit white players nearly as well as he was able to recruit black players. And he couldn't recruit black players worth a ****.
