Question on Reviewability

So I get that missed calls such as stepping out of bounds, traveling, fouls, etc. are not reviewable to reverse calls based on video replays. But the thing is - going out of bounds wasn’t what needed to be reviewed here. The missed call wasn’t directly about the guy stepping out. If Holden doesn’t touch the ball, there should be no whistle. The missed whistle at the buzzer was about the refs failing to recognize that an ineligible receiver accepted the ball and hit the game winner.

So here’s my question. Suppose that shot happened along side OSU’s bench not ours. Suppose a 6th player hopped off the bench in desperation - jumps in without checking into the game - receives the pass from Thorton and drains the shot. Refs don’t see the illegal player come off the bench real time until after the buzzer sounds. Is that not reviewable either?

Here's the link to the NCAA MBB rulebook for this year: https://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4664-2022-23-ncaa-mens-basketball-rules-book-online-only.aspx

Rule 11, starting on page 105, identifies when instant replay may be used. If it is not on that list, then the play is not reviewable.

Certainly a rule change is warranted. I don't know that you want to review every play in the last two minutes to see if someone stepped out of bounds, because then the last two minutes would take forever (and give team free time-outs) as every baseline or sideline movement is reviewed.

But I think that just like reviewing the clock on the final shot, there should be an allowable review of whether the shooter or other player was eligible to touch the ball.
