that you CAN compete at MSU, would Mike Leach be here ? I don't claim to know for sure but it had to make Leach's hiring at least a little easier IMO. I used to get as frustrated with his *** as anyone but you've got to give him his due.

I'll question your question with a question. Would Leach have came here right after Mullen or did we need a buffer?

No doubt about it but that was 20 years ago. Bob Tyler showed us over 40 years ago but it took this long to get an administration back in place that "believed" also. Whatever...we're a hell of a lot different place than we were in the dark days of Crxxm.

TV revenue means absolutely nothing if your administration doesn't have the vision, desire and savy to win.

All true, but Leach references Jackie in his opening presser so he knew State and what we had done before Mullen. I guess you could say Mullen showed it was still possible, and you could have consistent success. Croom did a lot to damage that.

Like it or not, Mullen WAS our man. Nobody wants to be the man following the man. Mo was a buffer

LOL , I would have loved to have seen these last two years if he had !
We'd be in the exact same position as we are now, except we'd have the discipline (tutorgate likely doesn't happen either). We'd have struggled in 2018 due to scheme change, and then there was no changing the losses we'd have seen in 2019. We also probably don't have Shrader. Point is, it wouldn't be radically different. We might have won one more game in 2019, and our outlook would certainly have been better.

Let's not give Mullen credit for something Jackie actually showed the majority of us.

Had we been internally competent, we could have been enjoying this for 16 years now...
