Question for the recruiting experts

I’ve noticed several times where people have referenced on here how well Moorhead recruits. However, from what I see, our recruiting rankings are pretty much smack dab in the middle of the range of where Mullen recruited, and people consistently complained about Mullen’s weakness in recruiting.

For a recruiting layman such as myself, what gives here? Is Moorhead getting more lower rated players that still have strong offer lists? Is there some other feeling that even though we’re sitting at 25, this is a stronger class than what we have had in the past when ranked around 25?

Or is it simply on par with a ~25th ranked Mullen class and either I am misinterpreting the board?

ETA: For the record, I’m not suggesting it’s a bad class by any means. I think ~25 is where the expectation should be understanding we will have years we jump to 15-20 and years we fall back to the 30s. I never agreed with the sentiment that “Mullen can’t recruit.”

Go look at Mullen's last 3 or 4 classes and notice which guys we signed who never made it to campus.

You have to look at context. With the way Mississippi was this year, Mullen would have finished with a class around 30ish at best.

We don’t get Jarrian Jones and Charles Cross with Mullen.

Also notice how we had no late flips this year?

I could go more in depth, but regardless of what you think of the on the field coach in Moorhead, he is a better recruiter.

Also last year is a top 15 class if Saban doesn’t poach our coaches two weeks before signing day.

Moorhead realized what our position needs were and the staff attacked it...not sure I could say the same about Mullen
