During GS first go round we had a night game at home vs. UConn and it was incredibly cold. Had to leave early as it was too much for my daughter.
I was in the Temple band. We hid in those bathrooms during the first half and left at halftime.I remember that week. Preparing for a Thanksgiving game sophomore year in high school. Coldest I have ever been. And I have ski'd for 40 years. Remember the windchill that week was 10-15 below.
That was one game I was thinking of - I remember sitting with the band during that game, I think we also got some snow at some point? Two miserable weather games come to mind: November 7, 1981 at Giants Stadium when Marino brought his #1 Pitt team and beat us 47-3. The wind chill was brutal.
Never heard the details on this one. Lol. Great story. ThanksI was one of the people who was on that TD club bus. Started out by taking route 18 to the parkway instead of 287 North. An hour into the trip we were were on the parkway near Clark when the driver pulled over so she could use the bathroom in the back of the bus. The bus got lost on the way to WP and the low point on the trip to the stadium was when we had to pull over near a laundermat and ask directions. If I remember correctly, a cop happened to stop and gave us an escort to the stadium. We arrived about 2 minutes to go to halftime. Snowed and rained until the game ended. After the game, the bus wasn't to be found. We wandered around for about 90 minutes until we found more RU fans looking for the bus. We finally found the bus and started the long trip home. I think we got back around 4AM. They also had sent up a replacement bus as the original one had no working wipers. Anyone who left their stuff on the original bus had to go to the depot to get their stuff back. Since it was a work day, most people had worked and then went on the trip. A very long day.
