Question about WR coverage from Saturday

Looking at highlights and replays from Saturday, one thing stuck out to me about the completed passes to Jordyn Tyson. From what I can tell, Tyson only caught one pass when he was covered by Kelley Jones (who was playing extra deep that specific play). It seems like every big play Tyson made was when he was covered by Brumfield or Lanier.

So, I guess my question is why wasn’t Jones assigned to Tyson all night? Were we just in zone on those plays and Tyson was just lined up on the opposite side of the field?

To be clear, the entire secondary did a fantastic job shutting Tyson down, but Jones was special out there in the first half and seemed to be nowhere near Tyson in the second half.

I don't know. But I suspect ASU was doing some things with motion, etc. to try to get him matched up against someone else. Really, no matter who was covering him we did a pretty good job. But I agree, Kelly Jones looks like a special player.

ASU threw the ball 7 times in the second half with 5 completions and 1 INT. Tyson had 4 receptions for 41 yards in the second half. For the GAME, Tyson had 6 catches for 68 yards.

It's not like Tyson blew up in the 2nd half. We were playing a safety over the top to prevent a big play and were happy to let them throw the ball underneath.
