if I remember right at one time nebraska could have 150 players on scholarship,
then some rule during the big 12 I think they said the limit was 98.
so 98 divided by 23 players = 4.26
so by this we should be 4 deep at every position.

correct me if Im wrong but frost looking to have a lot more walk-on players? so how deep does that get us? 6 deep at each position?

I ask this because next year we might be hurting on the d-line, maybe because we haven't built depth, or you can't keep a quality player at second sting cause they might transfer?

whats the likelyhood of walk-ons being 1st string, these days?
I ask cause during dr.toms day, and even solich, it's seems like we were able to reload. and now it takes forever to build positions, I hear people say "it's gonna take 7 years till players know what they are doing". do they mean to get the team back to a reloading team, and not a rebuilding team?

We haven't had good roster management for years. To me, you need to get balanced and then replace what you lose. In the past we would load up in one area and then next year another. You have to have each position almost every year

You can have 85 on scholarship. The current roster with walk-ons is 154.

85 divided by 23 is bout 3.7 per position.
I guess some of them positions are cross over, like a rg could be a lg...or a receivers could switch around. but your qb, rb, tightends, probably can't.

it's just interesting how we used to reload and now you have to rebuild.
85 is pretty low...and doesn't leave room for much mistakes at 3.7 per position.
