I have to think either Lewis or Stokowski starts next year. Maybe the WRs who will be sophomores will step up and we can have an offense.

I like Sitkowski a lot, but if he is sitting behind a D1 walk-on at IMG, the odds of him being able to turn around a poor B1G offense are low. I hate when we (I say "we" because we all do it) put unrealistic expectations on a young guy.

I think Rutgers' best shot for success next year is finding some receivers who will make their quarterbacks look better than they are since, as of now, the receivers are part of the problem.

Sitkowski is not starting next year. It’s ridiculous how or fanbase lets how many stars a recruit has blind them from looking at things objectively.

While I admit some of us go too far when asking kids to play right away, others go too far the other way, as if a true freshman has never started at qb in a college football game. In the last 15 years even rutgers has started true freshman: nova for a few games, savage, and even teel got some time as a freshman (although I can't recall if he was a redshirt or not)

I agree, but Sitkowski isn’t even starting on his high school team and people see he is ranked in the top 100 and just assume he will step in and start. He has all the tools you look for in a QB, and if he puts it all together, watch out, but he needs a couple years to get used to college ball.

Ive seen enough of Gio. Cannot make plays. Bring Bolin back for the rest of the season.

While I agree about Bolin getting another shot, I just think at this point you have to commit to next year. Get Gio or Lewis as many game snaps as possible.

Also I wouldn't count out Jalen Chatman. He's a gem. Sitowski may have the star ranking, but this kid's stats speak for themselves.

Anyone asking for Bolin needs to rethink that. We are terrible with him at the helm.

I never thought I’d be saying this but if Nova was back there today it would have been a one score game.

Many of those open receivers would have been plays and people under appreciate his speed. He ran a 4.6 at the RU pro day.

I don't understand...I posted the exact same thing when he committed and from the replies I got, you would have thought I just shot someone on 5th Ave. Thanks for keeping things in perspective, many people look in a carnival glass house mirror

And Gio will be just fine if we put him in better situations - I really think it's time for a new WR coach who can recruit as well

absolutely

the play calling doesn't help, receivers shortarming the play doesn't help, and the miscommunication doesn't help. Plenty of the latter today by Gios' motions to wr's after the play

Sitkowski won’t play his first year, so with our fan base, he will be considered a bust. Just like most are already writing off Lewis.[/,

And just like Savage, Odin, and Lewis wouldn’t ever start their freshmen year..

OP is a turd as usual. Take the whole package. Throwing not good today. But scrambling and running are his strengths. Still light years better than Bolin.
You need serious help. This is something f’n mentally wrong with you. I hope I never meet you in person. You might smell my hair

I don't care who it is but we need a significant improvement at the position. I don't doubt the wide receivers are contributing to the problem and not one of our freshmen wrs seems ready to play right now. But I think we have a pretty good idea of gios ceiling and it's not high enough for us to beat good teams.

you guys are a riot, in the first half GIO was the savior and now look at some of you. You people have no idea what you are talking about. PSU made several adjustments that we did not counter. I don't care how good you are, if you have an anemic playbook that is predictable, continue to bring multiple RU receivers in the same reception area, have clear miscommunications with your target and have no safety outlet on most plays, you will never look like Joe Montana

our coaching needs to seriously look in the mirror here. You cannot go game after game and make no adjustments! You cannot expect to run on 9 in the box and think you will get yardage. Put packages in that work for the kids we have, that's what great coaches do

After the game I did say we would have 6 wins if Gio had started all year so hopefully this post isn’t directed to everyone who is questioning Gio as the answer.

That being said, he is not good. True that he doesn’t get a lot of help from his receivers and the coaches but you only need to use your eyes to see we are about the only B1G team he would start for. We need better QB play.

Truer words were never spoken. Missed open receivers and receivers dropping balls is not cutting it. I'm no longer a defender of Gio's passing ability. His mobility is the only thing that keeps him starting.

I notice a number of posters are dumping on Lewis in this thread. It's much too early to write him off. BTW, I think we should have red-shirted Odin last year and Lewis this year -- a true freshman just is not going to make an impact as a QB except in the *rarest* of cases.

Gio is the best option we've seen this year, but that's not saying a whole lot, unfortunately. He's cagey, has good presence of mind to use his legs, and makes reads.... but passing the ball just isn't his strong suit. He'd actually be fairly well suited for the Navy offense, I'd imagine.

Lewis has had this year of practice and S&C and acclimation to college, and will have the spring and summer to learn the playbook and get the game to slow down for him. Sitkowski is enrolling early and will have the spring and summer, too. If neither of these two guys can show that they can complete passes better than Gio going into next season, it's going to be a rough ride.

he's our best guy and I don't think he's Joe Montana but was coaching is he getting? Think about this, for most of the year, last year too, he was an afterthought to the coaches. Get him some dedicated coaching and plays and I'll bet he does better. You can't tell me we can't do basic stuff like curls and timing routes underneath and if you do, that's on coaching because these kids didn't just wake up and decide to play these postions today

Also, it's kind of scary watching our offense from the top down view, when most teams have routes where it gets people in space, it seems the majority of our passing plays has multiple people all in the same area so there will always be more bodies in the vicinity.

I agree with you on nearly everything you say including Gio being the best we have. I just disagree that he is anything more than a placeholder. I just don’t believe he is an accurate passer.
