Can we have a true QB competition in this day and age of overpaid and unproven NIL darlings? How are you going to bench the million dollar man and hurt his feelings? Will he take his ball and pack his suitcase?

This is now a microcosm of the NFL where the coach’s success is directly tied to his starting quarterback’s success. It has to work. Once you bench the starter, it is the beginning of the end.

Will DR improve enough where he is deficient? He’s got major holes in his game and I’m concerned that the job is his de facto for the next 2 to 3 years possibly to the detriment of the team. This feels like an enormous trap and gamble.

Add in the fact that one of the coaches is directly related makes staff meetings uncomfortable when you as a coach are seen as a threat to the player getting drafted.

I know, some of you apologists will say that he’s only a freshman. He deserves some leeway, but I sense trouble on the horizon

Like it matters OP

Our results are directly in line with our .500 coach’s career record

We are a non-serious, beta program

I wouldn’t pay attention to anyone that was dumb enough to say the other team couldn’t score against air early in a game.

So, I guess I’ll take anything you say with a grain of salt.

If a guy can't win the starting job in college football against other guys on the roster, does he think he'll be drafted in the NFL? Competition will make Raiola better. It makes everyone better. If he loses in the offseason to Kaelin or Lateef, then that's how it goes. We need the best on the field. Period.

Yea I was wrong

Air wouldn’t have given them the ball at the 3 yard line

Can you remind us what the difference in the game was?

Was it 3?
Can you remind us what a football goes through when a team scores three points by making a field goal.

Besides the uprights, isn’t it air? Or is it something else like Earth, Wind & Fire?

NIL aside, I'm not sure weve had a real QB competition since Crouch/Newcombe. Either not enough talent to have a real competition or the position was annointed before the season began.

This is Kong doing what he does best. Don’t know why people take the bait every stinking time.

I wouldn’t doubt if we start winning and Kong posts less. He thrives on our suckiness. He relishes it, even though a denial is sure to come.

My prediction is Raiola stays, he gets better, we continue to upgrade the WR room, and Rhule takes Nebraska on his 3rd year jump.

Easy to hate on all of it right now but the program has marginally improved in year 2 with a true Frosh QB.

Was Crouch/Newcombe a real competition? It was long ago and my memory is fading, but wasn't Newcomb more or less winning, then Crouch packed up and went back to Omaha and Solich and Cotton? went to Omaha to fetch him back and he was anointed starter?

Another rational thinker joins the group. I'm handing out badges today.

There’s zero chance Raiola is here next year. His family knows how inept this staff is. He has zero line protection and skill at wr positions is abysmal.

Zero chance huh? Wow that's a hot take. I think his family is the reason he's here in the first place.

I wish there was zero chance you would be here next year. That’s more likely than Raiola not being here.

It was real. They split time in 98, but Newcomb battled injuries which gave Crouch a chance to shine. Beginning of 99 was when the incident you reference happened. I think it was more a case of both being too talented to keep off the field vs Crouch being anointed. Crouch was also more durable which became more important given how QB reliant the offense became under Solich

Dylan comes off his progressions too quickly. He either checks it down too early, or he's looking at the wrong part of the field at the wrong times and just holds on to the ball when he inevitably can't find a receiver. Besides pocket presence and not having wheels, that's the biggest deficiency I see with him.

He has to pretend he knows more than the coaches and winning prevents his brain from going full retard

It's interesting reading the blame game. We could have easily been a 9 win team. We had OSU, Ill and Iowa all in our hands but couldn't make plays. Nobody would be pointing fingers if we would have won those games.

Raiola will be the starter for every game he is at NU. Get used to it.
