Seems like that EO Trump signed has this website reporting a lot about stopping human trafficking. Probably how a lot of those 4chan and 8 chan rumors get started.

They have chapters all over the country. They seem to be supporting open borders, defund the police, all the same stuff the DSA supports. I would say that's how a lot of these rumors get started. Someone believed them after observing some of their actions.

I find it interesting that the left if making fun of anyone who wants to find and convict child predators. There is a Netflix documentary called "Don't F*uck with Cats." It is about a serial killer from Canada that was killing gay guys in NA and a couple of internet nerds tracked him down for Interpol and the Canadian Gov. They actully saved lives...and the cops make fun of them until they could not refute the evidence any more.
