Watched some tape on their sophomores and juniors. They are just loaded. They have a rising junior center from Africa who looks amazing at EYBL. We are very aware of him and his team mates

Their gym is awful.
It is amazing how they get so much talent.

High-level Prep basketball is crazy.
I don't understand at all how they make it work financially - but it is impressive to watch.

Some of the prep school guys are sometimes a little older. For example, according to FIBA basketball, Baye Ndongo turned 20 in January.

Yes, many foreign students lose a couple of years when moving to the US to make up for language and other deficiencies. Adding to that the fact that they are often more mature than most American teenagers to begin with and you can end up with a high school looking like the one in the photo above. My experience working with many foreign students at the University level over a period of decades has shown that the maturity helps them overcome whatever academic deficiencies they might have entered with. A good work ethic in most cases also helps.

Lots of high level athletes reclassify and are older. It’s a HUGE advantage but that’s really old - to the point of being a negative for his long term potential

Ages of a few African bigs that we're familiar with.. Rueben Chinyelu turns 20 in September, so he'll be 20 when he plays his first regular season game for Washington State. Baye Fall turns 20 in December...

Getting back to the Putnam Science Academy topic, two of Putnam's top young Nigerian bigs, Oswin Erhunmwunse and Ben Ahmed, played well in their prep championship tournament. This is probably old news for some posters, but I didn't know that we apparently offered them.. (I guess somebody is comparing them to David Robinson and Tim Duncan??? LOL...)
