Merkel insists the project is a private commercial venture and is not funded by German taxpayers.

Lol, look at these cock holsters, let them pretend they would have applauded Obama doing or saying any of this. They really are deplorable. I'm sure they have forgotten whining that Obama was too soft on Putin. Hey, his base will get off watching the buffoon talk back to stoic folks with funny accents, ain't like most of them have a passport.

In socialist countries, everything is funded , in part, by the taxpayers. One does have to ask the question, why are we protecting Europe from the Russians when they are buying large amounts of energy from the Russians propping up their economy? We can provide the energy. Maybe it is time to pull the plug on NATO.

Why Lol? Tell me, why shouldn't we question why we spend all that money in NATO and the Germans are helping prop up the russians? Legitmate question.
We spend all that money on our defense and to prop up our economy. We happen to be in NATO.

I agree that Germany should not be doing this deal with Russia.

I'm laughing at your entire post but I don't have all day to dissect it and quiz you on it. You or Trump can ask any questions that you want. While you're at it, ask someone why NATO was created and continues to exist.

AS usual, you liberals are just against him. Doesn't matter what, you just can't bring yourself to agree on anything.

This is essentially an economic sanction and we currently have no reason for doing so.
You mean messing with our election isn't reason enough? Or do you not think that buying those ads on Facebook actually made a difference?

On this I completely agree. Why defend Europe if they are all more interested in propping up Vlad's govt?
Is there something wrong with wanting to stay warm in the winter? Who should supply western Europe with nat gas then?

NATO is not a country. NATO members do have sanctions on Russia, though most are cosmetic.
If we can find a way to supply to the europeans what Russia is, as cheap, we should make that a condition of us remaining in NATO. If we can't, that's a little different.

So the U.S. can deliver an uninterrupted supply of nat gas to western Europe cheaper than any other supplier? take your time with this one...

Do we live on the same planet?
If Germany gets a good deal on Russian gas, good for them. It's obviously the case. On the other hand, if Russia does something wrong, then take official legal action against them.

I have no idea, but to think that Russia wouldn't use that as leverage is naive but that's what you are. Facebook ads influenced the election, talk about naive.

No, but are we going to punish Russia or not?
This a matter between Germany and Russia. It does seem odd to depend on getting a major portion of your nat gas supply from someone perceived as an adversary but Germany's nat gas supply needs to come from somewhere. Trump wants to be friends with Russia so perhaps we are punishing them all that we need to right now with existing sanctions.
