Purely hypothetical question here

If we lose to UF, we are in danger of heading into a free fall and losing to Auburn, LSU, and A&M. If that happened, our team (and fandom) confidence would be so low, that we could end up 5-7, or worse, by winning only 2 of 3 against La Tech, Arkansas, and the Rebel Bear Sharks. I really cannot see a scenario that you describe wherein we finish 6-6 with losses to UF and Mississippi. My current projection is that we will bounce back and beat UF and thus avoid the potentially dreadful scenarios.

Don't be that guy

We've lost 1 game. 1 game. And now we're discussing scenarios in which we would fire our coach?

I've been saying this all offseason. Our roster is top-to-bottom one of the better rosters we've ever had, but that doesn't make it a great roster. It makes it one in which we can hope for a really special season if we catch a few breaks (and avoid losses like Saturday's). I would add to your assessment that we have average Wrs, and only above-average RBs. Hill is good, but he's no Anthony Dixon.

Combine this with everyone's lack of respect for Kentucky, and the many of our fans thought Lexington would be a cake walk. I'll admit I expected a victory, but I never thought winning was a foregone conclusion.

I had us pegged at 9-3, which is a prediction I lowered to 8-4 after the KSU game. I still think we can get to that mark.

You seem very patient.

Patience? This isn’t a 17ing rebuild. Nowhere close. There is no such thing as patience when you get gifted a 10 win level team. 6-6 with losses to Ole miss, Florida, and Kentucky is absolutely 17ing fireable and completely unacceptable. Of course that’s barring 10-15 season ending injuries to starters. Anyone who thinks otherwise can leave the fanbase because your loser mentality is weighing down the rest of us.

started thinking though with the differences in philosophies between Mullen and Moorhead and what he wants to do and will do doesn't exactly fit the players we currently have. if you go with that, then it is a rebuild and a waste of what we have. I may be proven wrong in the weeks to come, but it pretty much looks like it will be rebuild for two-three years from now. Which sucks. We might should have picked someone that fits our skill set of players little better with scheme if we wanted to win big this year.

i'm not melting. i'm seeing the truth. saturday was pretty bad. almost croom level with the way the offense simply couldn't get going against freakin Kentucky. yes they are a good team, but they aren't great. Key was playing still under Mullen's system when that happened. What we saw Saturday night goes further than just a game in the rain. it has more to do with scheme, discipline, and our coaches either being to dumb to figure it out or to stubborn to change it. that makes me think a lot of Croom actually. Only difference is this wasn't maine it was an SEC opponent. Croom also never had a team this talented though. I hope i'm wrong and he does turn it around this year and next year, but he has to be a lot better with how he schemes and with his discipline. The defenses in this conference will eat you a live if you don't.

If we can't do it with this talent, we have to ask the serious question whether or not it will ever happen.

Not necessarily. Having a brand new coaching staff there has to be some kind of transition. Sometimes it's not seamless no matter the talent. Fitz is not necessarily the right QB for this offense. I think any of the QB's we have coming up will take us to that next level. I particularly like Mayden and Shrader.
