Nevada comes back down 14-31 to win 34-31 on a last second 56 yard field goal. Purdue had 5 turnovers to Nevada's 0. Yikes.

Former Big Ten player, Jay Norvell, who was a key contributor to a 1985 Big Ten championship, wins season opener, as head coach at Nevada.

Great way to begin Year 3 as a college football coach.

Purdue failed in 1985 to derail the Big Ten championship, in a key November game. Now, Norvell wins on walk off field goal, just like the win over Michigan in 1985.

Pretty cool story for the third year coach.

What will Jim Harbaugh and Michigan do in 2019?

Something suggests it may be a bumpy road in the Big Ten for Michigan in 1985?

Game 3 at Wisconsin should be interesting.

He also was supposedly Callahan’s offensive coordinator at Nebraska..

Had to put him on ignore. Him and the guy that always posts the music videos when he's hammered are the only two posters I've ever put on ignore on any message board.
I honestly don't know what his point is. Trying to pimp ioways mighty conference title in 1985 I guess. Maybe they should worry about their own game.

He was on a team that beat both Jim Harbaugh (Michigan) and Purdue in route to a Big Ten title. Jay Norvell is doing a good job in Reno. Congratulations

Didn't get to see the game, but the stat line doesn't blow me away for Rondale.
Rondale took a headshot in the second quarter that seemed to throw him off. He was dominant before that. Heck, the team was dominant before the 4th quarter. Not sure if it was the youth, the distance and altitude, or what? Purdue is still a year away though. Talent is finally getting there, but the team is all underclassman.

I never thought Pudue's coach was all that great. They might have better years or worse years, but they're still the same 4 or 5 win team they always were.

Some coaches upset teams and then lose to bad teams, and some coaches get wrecked by good teams and beat bad teams...I think Purdue is the former...certainly doesn't make them better than the latter. Mike Riley had many more wins over top 25 teams than Bo Pelini but a winning percentage that is nearly 20% lower.

Rondale seemed vastly improved to me early but as the game went on they were able to take him out of his element. He's a great talent but Purdue will need to find ways to move the ball consistently when people take him away.

Riley had more wins vs ranked teams? Sorry, I do not remember this, I am old, and often wrong these days, but i do not believe this.

Too old to look up things, but my bs meter went red.

P.S.

Think you may be confusing murders, and wins vs top teams.

Confusing coaches too.

I believe Solana is right, but he’s talking about over his career, not his time at Nebraska. Riley would beat #2 USC and lose to Eastern Washington.

Literally.

Well literally Solana said we let multiple murderers play, I, just forget the number, as he changed it regularly.

Same 4 to 5 win team they always were? They were one of the best teams in the country before the AD quit investing in the program. Now they are recruiting at a top 25 level and dumping money into their facilities. They have some of the best training facilities in the country and they are about to put over 100 mil in their stadium. No reason they can't contend for the big ten west with Wisconsin and Nebraska?
