Should make some waves in our division. Glad to get the w off of them at their place. I think we are the better team but they were better than I thought. A few bonehead plays by them cost them.

They are better than 5-7 if they can avoid injuries, big if, and if they can coach Sindelar up on avoiding interceptions. He is a beast.

Their defense is going to get ripped to shreds by the Big Ten, and their running game is non-existent. Give them credit for the second half shutout, but I think it had more to do with our guys not executing and coming up 1 yd short fo the marker on a number of occasions stalling drives.

Brohm wants go up and down the field with Sindelar and Moore, but without a running game their oline is not going to be able to hold up (you saw Sindelar take some shots).

I agree that there defense is not very good. If there running game is as bad as you say, I hope the third quarter was an anomolie.

id say about 6-6. Obviously uw smokes them but they are capable of upsetting iowa or nebraska. I hope we can upset uw but its gonna be tuff enuf for us. If we beat michigan and upset uw then we got a chance.

Why would it be an upset if they beat a Nebraska team that was 4-8 last year? I think Frost is great and will make waves at Nebraska, but I'm not looking for him to go 10-2 and win the West just yet. If he wins even eight games he's probably a lock for coach of the year in the West. Iowa lost all three linebackers, so we'll have to wait and see how their D does against passing offenses this year.

We had a few running backs banged up and a young team. Your NW squad was very lucky we had 3 TO and questionable officiating down the stretch. We dominated your “great team in the 2nd half. This may be the last time you beat Purdue for awhile, so keep telling yourselves that we are trash. NW was the worst d1 Football program 25 years ago. I wouldn’t throw too many stones. If Fitz ever goes, your new facility won’t save you.

Because I believe Nebraska was better than their record but just laid down after we came out of Lincoln with a win. Coaching turmoil last year created insecurities for that team. Im glad we have them at home as I believe they will be better than Purdue. But Purdue looked decent enuf to beat us or any non dominating top 5 team. We can beat uw but i dont think purdue can. their defense "needs work".

Really? I didn't think Nebraska was all that talented last year, especially on defense where they haven't resembled the old blackshirts in years. I think Frost will right the ship quickly, though — just hope he doesn't do it this year as we have too many other tough games to worry about.

Check their schedule, its hard to find 5 wins from here out. Crucial games coming up against BC, Mizzou and @Neb coming up. Doesn't get easier with Ohio St, Wisc and Iowa later on. Their 3 easiest Big Ten games are on the road @Minn @Ind @Ill. Better win all 3 of those to even have a shot at going bowling.

Yeah. That’s a tough schedule. Mizzou and BC are quality non con opponents.

Purdue racked up 202 rushing yards against NU last night, vs. 40 yards allowed in the 2017 contest. That's a 5x improvement in productivity. So I wouldn't characterize the Boilers running game as non-existent. I'd say that's actually a pretty impressive improvement.

You want to talk about questionable officiating? Check out what could very easily have been called a block in the back on Moore's long TD.

Moore also grabbed a facemask on a first down run right after our offensive pass interference no-call. If the ref had pulled the flag as he should have, it would have changed from a first down run to a 15 yard setback. I think Purdue scored on that drive. At the time I thought that it was reasonable balance against the offensive pass interference non-call.

Anyone who thinks that the personal foul at the end should not have been called is deluded.

There were some questionable non-calls but there seemed to be a pretty reasonable balance.

Also the body slam that got called was not the first one in the game. Larkin was slammed after the whistle earlier in the game as well plus a couple pretty close OOB non calls.

There was a lot going on the the refs did not call last night on both sides, but that is not all bad. The non-call on the offensive PI was a huge break for the Cats. I do think overall they showed appropriate restraint and let the players play. I thought they did not call PI tightly, which I prefer, and they also let a fair amount of short holds go by. They got the technical calls right (ineligible downfield, e.g. ). They were assertive on the personal foul calls (early hands to head, final body slam, chop blocks). Purdue fans were incensed on non-call on Blough as he went out of bounds with about 9 minutes to go, but if you watch replay, tackle was made in bounds, and he was going down under defender as he went out. With the exception of the one blown PI call, I thought they did a very good job.

You must not be reading much. Where is anyone claiming we have a “great team” right now. Where is Purdue being called trash? Turnovers aren’t luck either. Your QB felt pressure and threw it into crowds. Something Recent Purdue QB,s are prone to do.

All of these West schools hiring the flavor of the year coaches amaze me by somehow believing they will Vault right past NU doing this new head man. Hogwash, we aren’t going anywhere. Hiring Frost, Brohm, Fleck, Lovie May improve most of these teams, but I will take our guy over any of them. BTW, no one gives a $h#@ about 25 years ago.

And your defense is nothing special. You won the game primarily due to Purdue mistakes, not because you played that much better. Don't be an @sshat. Take the victory and be concerned about what Purdue is becoming. A true freshman put up 313 all purpose yards on your D.

And almost all of that true freshman's yardage came in the first half. NU adjusted its D to account for him, and he's now on tape for future opponents. He's a talent but is only one player.

There was definitely a crackback block on that long jet sweep play. Maybe I don't know what a crackback block is, because to me that seemed textbook. The WR ran out and then came back and while facing his own goal, blindsided our LB.

I thought that initially, but watching replay, it was either legal or marginal, and as I said, they were letting them play on marginal calls. I really thought they were consistent in that.

And BTW, our D adjusted and your team scored 0 points in the second half. The really funny part is Purdue is still rebuilding from the Hazell era while this is supposedly the best team Fitzgerald has had. And they squeeked out a win against a team that's "not special" who put up 472 yards against their experienced D and completely shut down their offense in the second half. Good luck against Wisconsin.
