People search for the reasons RU is not as competitive as many believe we should be. Lack of alumni support of athletics is quite possibly #1 on the list.
Support comes from a history of winning.Thats not the case at Rutgers.Hopefully Pike will change that.
No offense or reference meant; but WE don't want to follow in Purdue's footsteps if the above article is true.
Villanova has each of its twelve (soon to be 15 no doubt) basketball scholarships fully endowed at 125 mm. The head coaching position is also endowed at 200 mm and is publicly referred to as the William J. Finneran Endowed Head Coach Position, currently held by Jay Wright. The ACC #'s are the same or higher.
Do we want to match Purdue or the ACC/Nova ?? Not to say Purdue's athletic funding wouldn't be a good short term-goal.
