It's Wednesday and this week the 25th-ranked Wildcats host Purdue....prediction time.

NU 28
PU 19

Don't see overtime being required this week.

The Cats' streak will end this week... Not their winning streak, but their OT streak. Even with their "backup" QB, I think Purdue is a pretty decent team. I originally thought this would be a 7-10 point win for the Cats, but now I'm predicting:

NU 20
PU 17

I think NU's luck runs out this week. I predict PU14, NU10. The Cats just can't get out of the trap this weekend with the bad weather predicted as well. Try to avoid the train, but P just has too much more to play for?

Does he? I wonder if NU played WMU at the end of last year, if the result would've been different.

Yes and it wouldn’ be all that close. That WMU team was great and also improved as the year went on.

Dont mess with Fleck. He is an elite coach-I’ve talked to guys that have played for him.

Not much Fleck can do with these boys. A mediocre UMich offense ran down their throats for 4 quarters. I was sitting right behind their sideline and in the second half Fleck's players looked as if they really didn't want to be there. Jackson and Larkin will combine for 300 yards. I'm not so confident against Purdue, but I still think we'll take care of business. Call it 27-17 Cats.

I hope you mean like 40 degree temps for "bad weather". Did I miss something?

It comes down to a field goal in final drive (either NU makes one to win or PU misses one that would have tied game.)

I really hope I'm wrong, but ranked + night game + being favored = letdown loss.

He owns us because he beat us once after a goal-line fumble with 2 minutes to go in the 4th?
And they beat us by one point. Yeah. That's just a bit of a stretch. We own David Shaw by that logic.

And we lost to Illinois State the next week, so I think we probably improved as much as they did by the end of the year.

I will take my chances this year with Fleck and Minnesota even if his players think he's the second coming of Bear Bryant.

NU -24
School of Coed's with exceptionally large thighs - 10
Umm, maybe you should rethink that--at least 50% of the both NU and Purdue fans might find your exceptionally small middle finger largely unappealing.

NU 30 PU 10 We are on a roll. We own this November. Go Cats! PU worn down and Blough always worried me most when he has a hot arm and legs going.

Confidence can be a good thing, too. They've beaten two top 20 opponents in three weeks, and got a big road win. JJTBC is healthy and will look the part - 200-plus yards.

Purdue won't be able to run - nobody runs on NU - or pass - they don't have a QB left. The NU defense gets a TD.

Purdue will come in riding high, forgetting that they beat a high school team last week, and not that badly.

Let's do this.

I've predicted losses the last two weeks, so I'm sure everyone wants me to continue predicting NU losses. But some bad news, I think the Cats are going to come out and play a great game. Reality is that I thought we played really sloppy last week in Lincoln, and were still able to come out with a win. This week, we have no turnovers, and win 34-17.

Get used to fairly easy wins from here on out. Purdue is the best of the three teams, but they are playing their worst football of the year right now (the loss to Rutgers and the choke job vs. Nebby were two terrible, terrible games, and they were not redeemed by beating a high school team). Their one road win vs. Missouri seems like a century ago, and no Blough does not help matters one bit.

Can Fleck play QB? Assuming the answer is no, he could be the second coming of Knute Rockne and not be much help to his team right now.

Fleck sucks. His rowboat sucks. Minnesota sucks.

The rowboat thing came about when Fleck and his first wife lost a newborn to a heart condition. He decided that no matter what life brought him, he would keep rowing ahead. He later got divorced and endured a 1-11 season at WMU.

The guy went through hell. He did not mail it in. Wish him well. He’s earned the right to his own message.

The Purdue game worries me a bit. I just have an uneasy feeling about this one. Sindelar is inconsistent but if he is on, he can hurt us. If we play a clean game, we should win comfortably but we seem to have a habit to play to the level of competition. Clayton, no turnovers!

I have an uneasy feeling for just about every NU game. Why can't we just win without all the histrionics? I want to win regardless of the way the win plays out, but gosh, the cardiac cats are aging me with all the OTs. With regards to Fleck, I just don't like him all that much. His documentaries on BTN remind me of Lebron James and his migration to Miami with the other primadonnas. It is nice that he was successful at turning around the WMU team. I just don't like his style. From what I have heard, he is probably a good guy behind the big show- I just prefer new coaches who are a bit more humble like Purdue's Broehm.

As a Purdue fan, I think we lose this one. I'm thinking NW by 10 points.

With that said, anyone thinking that NW will score 35+ has not paid attention to Purdue's defense. It's significantly improved this year and pretty decent against the run.

I'm thinking NW 24 - PU 14.

We have paid attention and we are pleased that Purdue is a competitive team again. We just don’t want you to be competitive tomorrow.

Same here. Purdue fan but our team with its starters is a completely different team than the injury riddled one we currently have. Getting Thieneman and Hunt back is huge for the secondary but missing McCollum is still a big loss.

My prediction: NU plays a solid game and wins without scoring a lot of points. The narrative will be the final score doesn't reflect NU's yardage or time of possession dominance as Boilermakers get a TD in garbage time or NU doesn't pull away until 2nd half. Probably both.

With a margin of error of + or - 1 we have a winner!
