That was my impression last year, and obviously Hammons remains clearly the better player. Have to say, though, that to me, Haas looks a bit smoother, more polished than what I remember from last season. And if that's not the largest young man ever to play in the Big Ten, he's at least in the discussion.

I've watched a number of PU games this year, and AJ seems to have really gotten his act together. He has come to play in every game I've seen. His stock should be up significantly for the NBA. Credit to him and Painter for using his final year of eligibility to get better.

He will do what works for NU: play a match-up zone. Substitution pattern will not change until forced by foul problems.

I realize that Northwestern will zone. With Purdue's inconsistent perimeter shooting, you'd be crazy to do anything else.

While we're probably going to give up a lot of fouls against their centers, the main match-up issue with Purdue is Swanigan at PF versus Lumpkin. We may need more from Skelly than usual, and I really hope we can outshoot them (likely) big-time (less likely). A very tough game for us, I'm afraid.
