Glad for the Buckeyes, even if I don't root for them most of the time .
JT had a heck of a game

Wow that Schiano defense!
My buddy said that kickoff was going to come back and bite OSU. I told him they were facing a Schiano defense firing on all cylinders. That series was vintage Schiano. Aggressive, swarming, and in the backfield at the same time as the ball.

You mean there were adjustments? How is that possible with Schiano as the DC?

I don't know about adjustments - all I know is the DL started playing with fire - a DL hailed as one of the best if not THE best in the nation. Schiano said it best he ever had - college or NFL. Penn St QB is deadly with time. OSU didn't give him any.

I think I also credit Greg with the FG block. I've seen that blitz from the edge too many times in RU games.

I don't think too far. Their loss is still a good loss on the road by a point, similar to NDs loss against Georgia but that was at home. I think maybe to the middle-back of the top 10 in the "normal" polls.

In the playoff poll looking at the body of work they could still be in the top 4 or just outside. Their resume is a 1pt loss on the road at highly ranked OSU. That's better than some of these other 1 loss teams.

Wisconsin hasn't played anybody that's why I don't know if they would break the top 4. They might but not sure. Even with this loss PSU or ND might be in front of Wisconsin in the committee's mind.

OSU got in last season with one loss and without the conference championship to their name , along with not qualifying for the B1G title game, because they didn't win their division.
As much as I dislike Penn St, I have to admit: they still have a shot at the playoffs
TCU probably dropped out of the playoff hunt and Georgia might not be in if they lose to Bama if they meet for the SEC title
Wisconsin won't be in playoffs if they lose the B1G title game, if they win over OSU (if win out and go to championship game), the Buckeyes are toast .
Notre Dame might be a playoff favorite if they win out.
But if Penn St wins out and does it convincingly, they do have a small chance of going.

Wasn't PSU a two loss team last year? Pitt and Michigan I believe, and Michigan housed them IIRC...

There are quite a few 1 loss teams and although this might be a "good" loss for PSU, they don't have any good wins. Their schedule besides OSU is cupcake city, so i can't see how you'd automatically put them in over a 1-loss ND, Miami, Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Washington, TCU, OK State, etc...

Wish we played them next week. Gotta think this one is going to sting for a while.

OSU's 2016 resume was far above PSU's best case scenario. Not saying it can't happen, but PSU getting in is not likely. PSU had 2 losses last year vs. OSU's 1 close one, and OSU had the benefit of the late season win vs. UM. PSU closes with MSU (just lost today), us, Nebraska and UMD. Not really a chance to come back. Their only hope is in other team's losses.

They could but OSU would have to lose another game. It's shaping up as a year where 2 conferences could be left out not just one. I thought ND might get picked off by one of USC/NC St./Miami/Stanford and they still could but they've looked pretty good lately.

If they run the table they have a good case, only will be lacking a champ game. If they do get left out after running the table, it might make them think about finally joining a conference.

They're not the typical Brian Kelly team. They're more physical, run the ball more and actually play some D. I've liked their new DC Mike Elko for a couple years and this job could be his stepping stone to a HC (possibly P5 job).

The Nits were a two loss team and that's why they didn't go, but were B1G champs.
My point was OSU went without being a conference champ .
edit to add:
Washington
Clemson/Miami
Bama/Georgia
Notre Dame
Oklahoma/OKSt
probably have a better chance to make playoffs before PSU, but if the stars align the wrong way
the Nits might just squeak in

tOSU exposed today PSU's two biggest weaknesses - their OL and their secondary. Moorhead, Barkley, and McSorley have done an amazing job this year covering up for a below-average OL, which became worse today when their OT Bates went down.

Bingo. I said this while Franklin was building this team with all those skill players. When it comes to championship football...what this game was...the trenches matter more. Penn State had the edge on paper at RB, WR and TE but still lost. I don’t think Franklin grasps this based on how I’ve watched him recruit.

Don't let the PSU Troll hijack this thread into insulting him.
That's what it wants, instead of reading how his school lost.

Does anyone think JT put himself ahead of Barkley in the Heisman race .
Saquon's stock probably dropped and the type of game Barrett had probably moved his needle ahead of Barkley's in my opinion.

If OSU can win the Big Ten I think Barret has a legit shot.

Overall I think Barkley's stock should drop after this game. He had a great kick return but as a RB he couldn't do anything all game (and got dropped for a loss several times).

you think we stop Barkley? sting or no sting, they are loaded

No, they will crush us. But it would be a little less next weekend. There is going to be a serious hangover after this one.

Lost a lot of respect for Joe Moorhead. Played way too conservative in second half. Kept tying to run on first down when OSU was all over it!!!!!! And he would not change his script!!!! And then first and goal inside OSU 10---and he calls a McSorley run twice then a tailback handoff....doesn't pass once with a super talented receiving corps. He played for a FG and to not turn it over. When you play like a chicken you are a chicken. Stay at PSU! What a bad game, Joe lol lol lol

The only other thing I can say about Moorhead in the second half is that he must have talked to our Mr. Kill before the game. Playing not to lose--or not to lose badly in RUs case--seems to be a popular strategy.
