Yesterday Wendy's was running out of beef, poultry plant workers were in such great peril the processors were all shutting down, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together etc etc. Today I walk into Kroger to find them fully stocked with ALL poultry products and plenty of beautiful fresh ground beef. Would somebody please tell me WTF's going on here.

More than anything, it was probably the meat industry not wanting to be shut down. If you notice all the articles, they interviewed executives, who obviously had an agenda.

I agree with them about staying open, by the way. I don't agree with inciting a panic, but I guess fear is the only way to motivate people these days.

True story. I went to Wendys on High street yesterday. Paper sign taped to menu at drive thru, said "Due to the beef shortage, we are out of the following menu items.....#1 and #2 (single combo and double combo)". As I pulled up the speaker, I asked "so is chicken all you have.....?" (the reason for this is because the news also mentioned a chicken shortage). She responded, "no, we do have the #3 combo....baconator". I said "well what's the difference between the baconator and the #1 and #2 cheese burgers?" Her answer: "the baconator has bacon on it...…".

So, if you request a burger with bacon, they do have burgers. But if you want a regular burger without bacon, they're out of burgers.

You're supposed to order the Baconator, hold the bacon. Sheesh, I thought everyone knew that.**

Are you aware that different places get their meat from different processing plants? And that a handful of these plants are closing or running at diminished capacity, while others are not?

There isn't a conspiracy and it's not complicated.

different suppliers than some areas. grocery stores are usually always better stocked midday. definitely right now. also many patties come shipped pre-made. So some burgers may have been short at the plant for different burger sizes. maybe they made the quarter square patties and did make the smaller ones. i was able to order a number 1 double on Saturday. I also ordered Krystals today. So i'm not sure exactly sure what plant your Wendy's get certain supplies from so who knows what the issue is in their supply chain are. When i went to Walmart about a week and half a go they didn't have much of certain meats. others they were fully stocked.

Not sure what you are asking but yes, Russia meddled in the 2016 Presidential election. Does that have something to do with meat processing plants in 2020?

Sure they did. But you see, the problem is, you think Bad Orange Man led the conspiracy. You also think that Bad Orange Man tell people to drink bleach and shove light bulbs up their butthole. I mean you really believe it.

Then you correct people here for thinking meat shortages are a conspiracy, rendering you just as dumb as they are.

If you could admit the idiocy about Trump, people might take you seriously.

They probably meddle in all elections. And I'll bet we meddle in theirs too.

Keeping on topic, we've been to the grocery store probably 5 or 6 times since this all started and have never seen a shortage of beef or pork. Toilet paper and paper towels, yes. But not meat.

To some extent, Russia has meddled in every election we've had since WWII.

Doesn't Wendy's claim their beef is never frozen? How do they pull that off?

Wendy's tastes a lot better when you go on High Street.**

You do know there is an active federal investigation into beef price fixing by some major players! Then you have one of their CEO’s crying wolf about an imminent shortage.

Wendy’s gets shipments of fresh beef daily and continue to do so. There is no beef shortage at Wendy’s. They had some over anxious stores buy into the media hype and over order causing a small disruption in supply for other stores.

By all means turn off the news and stop reading stuff. Can't fault you there.
...but processing plants really have reduced capacity overall. And some farms really have reduced their inventory due to an inability to process at the needed time.

It can be both- you can be sick of the media reports and there can be truth in reduced protein availability.

With putin averaging probably 75% of the votes over the last 2 decades on him as Prez or PM, we are doing a ****** job of meddling.

People with this mindset really lack some critical brain wiring. Again, you really think Bad Orange Man was encouraging injection of Lysol too, didn't you?

I stopped buying or even attempting to buy beef about a week before the shortage hit the news and I normally eat a lot of beef. I heard this was coming from someone who knows someone in the trucking industry. I switched to ground deer and ground bacon deer. I have not been disappointed and I may prevented the shortage by not buying any. You are welcome

Here. https://www.meatpoultry.com/articles/22993-covid-19-meat-plant-map
I don't know anything about Meat+Poultry Magazine, but there have definitely been problems keeping processing plants open. Some of the ones that closed have reopened, but all of these places have people working on top of each other, so it is impossible to stop the spread once somebody gets it, because they don't have the capacity to test and send the positive folks home.

I heard the orange clown talk about injecting sanitizer and I also heard him call on the Russians to dump whatever they could get on Hillary, but I guess I should believe you and him rather than my lying ears.

Or, it can be like the original poster stated and my personal experience, the media is throwing **** and hoping it sticks to the walls. OP found his Kroger stocked yesterday and I'm having no problem finding it, including this past Saturday and again today (bought 2 x 2# packs of ground chuck).

Your first (and worst) mistake was going to Wendy's on High Street.

Why don't they have the capacity to test? Seems this would be a super essential industry for the gubument to get behind.

So to be clear, you’re cool with all the illegal and treasonous thing Clinton actually did, but not with Trump saying he’d love for anyone to release proof of the illegal stuff she did?
