So the American people who voted for Trump did so expecting him to build a wall. Democrats who lost to Trump now think they will win opposing him on that wall, and instead allowing illegal immigrants to easily walk into the country as they have been doing.
Trump threatens to shut the government down unless funding for the wall is approved, and Democrats will sit refusing to keep the Government open by opposing the wall.
So the options offered for voters are: shut the government down until funding for the wall is approved

keep the government running but no funding for the wall?

The wall was built, still people got out. The USSR financed the building of that wall. My tax dollars are better spent than on a freaking wall.
