If it was ours we showed just how much we wanted it like we did vs Clemson, not much has changed since then.
A few years ago, I took a friend to the Red River Shootout. He had gone to school at Morgan State and really wasn't into football. The games had always been sparsely attended, and they weren't exactly a campus event that you just had to go to.
We had pretty good seats, about the 45 yard line some two-thirds the way up on the east side. But, everyone was cheering, and there was a show of a type that he had not seen. He had heard that the Red River Shootout was the second biggest party in the US from a Life or Look Magazine article about 1955, the biggest being Mardi Gras. He had seen the parties the night before. But, he was just not prepared for the enthusiasm of the game. One side cheered. Then, the other side cheered. As I remember, OU won by about 21.
But, he was so excited by the game that he got into the cheering. He could have cared less about OU or Texas. But, he was captivated by the spirit of the game. By the end of the third quarter, I was trying to find hot coffee to quell the soreness in his throat as he had yelled so much that he was completely hoarse. He was jumping up and cheering, and he didn't even care about OU or Texas. He was completely into the flow of whatever the crowd was doing. After the game, he said that it was the biggest spectacle that he had seen, and he had been to two Army/Navy games and several inaugurations. He was too excited to make sense after the game.
And, we show up flat?

Every time we get beat its all about our players coming out flat or not being up for the game. I've been thinking about that and have come to the conclusion that's BS. What matters is a lot of other stuff that happens that can't be explained or anticipated. Coaches decisions, players decisions, etc. A mish mash. Texas played better than OU today, but I bet anything that OU players and coaches wanted to win the game really, really bad.
I have said this and posted it for years....Bob does not have us ready to play game in and game out. He has repeatedly said that the Texas game is just another conference game. Inability to have teams is his Achilles heal and it's been that way throughout his career at OU.
Come on Senior gal, this could be like 13 and we have a fabulous finish with only one or two more losses. The team should be focused now,
I'll have to admit, I flinched when we were tagged at 10 this week instead of 12. We'll be back at 24 or lower now and will sneak back up on teams again...

Very well stated. I dont know why folks can't simply say that we got beat today and give our opponent the credit they deserve.
It sucks losing but Texas blitzed all day and that game plan worked to perfection. Overall Texas just flat out beat OU in all phases of the game.
Now lets see if Bob can learn from this and the players to. the next two games will determine a lot about how this team will finish the season.
