F ** k you Gavin

Sincerely

Ron DeSantis

JUST IN: My RED state of FLORIDA is eyeing redrawing its 2026 Congressional map to add a whopping 3-5 REPUBLICAN SEATS, removing 3-5 democrats as a result.

Gavin Newsom's California map is up to democrat +5 seats. FLORIDA alone can cancel out Gavin, then we still have Ohio, Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Indiana...

GAME OVER! 🏆

Despite passing Prop 50, which just stripped power from California's nonpartisan commission, 92% of CA voters say district lines should be drawn by a nonpartisan commission.

"The irony is 9 of 10 voters said they'd like to see this done by a nonpartisan commission."

Are people really this stupid?

Ah yes. Celebrating rigging our representative democracy with a fake trash wrestling WWE video. Perfect.
It’s crazy but also not completely surprising. The same people that warned of “Russian collusion” while actually colluding with the Russians is also warning about “threats to democracy” as they destroy our democracy. They accuse their adversaries of what they’re doing in real time. It’s a bold strategy. Allowing illegals into your sanctuary city or state, put them or their anchor baby on welfare, then allow them to vote. What could go wrong? Perfect democracy for leftists.

Lol, and Texas just... did it. They gerrymandered and redistricted.

At least the constituents in California got the chance to vote on it
Yep. They don't have a good faith impulse in them. Hypocrisy on levels I've never seen.

So the Dems should just take the Republicans cheating in stride and turn the other cheek. Got it. Hold your breath.
Cheating is a republican thing?

California Democrats will now control 48 of 52 (92%) congressional seats even though Trum/RFKJ won 40% of the popular vote.

Maryland Democrats have long drawn congressional maps that crack Republican voters into multiple Democratic-leaning districts. Democrats won 62.62% of the statewide vote in 2024 -- but hold all but one congressional seat (7 out of 8).

Illinois Democrats drew maps that consolidated power by eliminating Republican seats through strategic district collapses and splits. Democrats won 54.37% of the 2024 statewide vote but hold 82.35% of seats (14 of 17). Democrats tried to push through a heavily gerrymandered map in 2022, which was struck down by the courts. A court-appointed special master drew more balanced maps.

New York Democrats currently hold 73% of seats, while they won 55.91% of the statewide vote in 2024.

Republicans won 50.59% of Nevada's statewide vote in 2024, but hold only 25% of congressional seats (1 of 4). Nevada was the only state in 2024 where the party that carried the state for president won a minority of House seats.

to be fair, if redistricting was good in Florida, Texas and other red states, it's good in California. But it takes off the table that redistricting is bad.
I hear ya but I'm not sure I necessarily agree.

I think of it like the stuff we're seeing on NIL or with basketball, getting kids from the G-League.
If other schools are doing "extra" things in order to "win", at some point you have to do the same. That doesn't mean it's not still a ****** thing to do, or take it off the table as being bad.

this redristicing game has been going on for decades. There isn't any party more or less guilty than the other.

so, was I wrong, I said has been going on for years and, I know you'll love this, both sides are guilty
True but one side tried to pass a bill to end gerrymandering and the other side unanimously voted against it.

One side redistricts every ten years after the census comes out and one side is doing it mid-decade at the demand of an authoritarian president who doesn't want to be held accountable by the electorate.

That's not both sides

it always amazes me how you think. But then I guess my thinking is unique to you as well.

Redistricting is necessary when a state's population and number of representatives change. The problem is when it's done with political bias. In a perfect world it would only be done because of population shifts and it would be done by completely independent committees with an equal number of democrats and republicans. But as we know the world is far from perfect.

Finally? Do you really believe that California, NY, Illinois, Maryland, etc haven't already been heavily gerrymandered?
What about Texas, Missouri, North Carolina and Wisconsin, just to name a few off the top of my head?

It's kind of funny reading the posts about which party is the guiltiest over gerrymandering, when both have taken advantage of the system since the early 1800s. Politics is a contact sport. Interestingly the first instance was with the democrat-republican party. I guess back then they got along
