I just saw that it's streaming on Prime.

I finished reading the book only a couple of weeks ago and it's too fresh in my mind to watch the movie right away. But I'll definitely be watching it.

Meanwhile, who here plans to watch (or has already watched) and what did you think?

For those who also read the book, how does the movie compare?

Read the book and saw the movie in Imax. Really good job, I liked the book better, but I understand why they made the choices that they did.

Both are fantastic- I read it before I saw the movie as well, but I made a decision a long time ago (as an avid book reader) to not get precious about film or TV adaptions. I treat them as different mediums.

If a Film/TV Show deviates smartly, I'm fine with it. If they do it and it's bad, I just don't like it/stop watching.

I thought Project Hail Mary crushed it in both mediums- in print and as a movie.

In this episode of Star Talk, NDT talks to Andy Weir abouts how he created the Eridians by starting with a planet (that turned out to not be a planet) and developed a sentient being that could function in that environment. Fascinating stuff.

Read the book and saw the movie in theater. The movie is fine and does a good job.

They did a good job with the movie. Lots more science in the book but they focused on the relationships which made for a fine movie.

Didn't read the book, but my daughter did and she loved both. The practical, non CGI effects were great! Best movie I've seen in a while.
