Now available on Amazon (and presumably elsewhere). Unfortunately, they are charging $20 to rent (only $5 more to buy). So I guess I'll wait a little longer.

For those who brave theaters, how good is it?

For those who read the book, should I read the book or wait for the movie to hit my streamers?

Thanks. I read The Martian before the movie came out and thought it brilliant. Didn't think they could do it justice in the movie, but they 99% did.

I'm currently plodding through the Slow Horses catalog (plodding because I've become a slow reader in my dotage, not because the books plod). I was going to finish Tana French's Cal Hooper trilogy next, but may jump to PHM instead.

my take on the martian (both book and movie) is same as yours. and i think PHM was a hair more enjoyable which imo is an incredible feat because of how insanely incredible the martian was.

Both my Mom and my sister said it was better than The Martian
