Just heard Gerry DiNardo on Big10 Live say this is a big game today for Rutgers in regards to Program perception and recruiting. That another bad loss will wipe out the perception that improvement in the program is evident w wins over Maryland, Illinois and Purdue. That recruiting goes up and down with teams like Rutgers .
I tend to agree with him. Need to win , or at least keep it respectable.

Don't know about that, if Lewis plays and gets experience but we lose by 20. Lewis needs to play today.

He’s either very bullish or very down on us. No in between.

Uncle Gerry is a total buffoon with his predictions and opinions... turn back to summer camp tour 2016 when he fawned over our size, speed and strength... nobody knows until the ink is dry...yes we all would love an upset win today but honestly...does anyone really think that's possible ?...we just aren't nearly close to being at MSU's level.

I don't think many expect an upset win, but many do worry about another blowout , which would end the season on a very, very bad note. And the bad perception would be back...just like that.

Honestly, I worry a little about a blowout loss today. Very bad public perception if that happens and concerns about recruiting as well.

Not sure how motivated MSU will be today. They didn’t overpower Maryland at home last week. But each week is different.

A loss where we never threaten to win - call it a blowout if you like - combined with last week's no show would wipe out the positive vibe of the three conference wins, imo. Gotta be in it in the 4th quarter, within a score

So if we’re losing by 10-14 the entire game, and lose by 17 or 20, that wipes out the three wins in conference this season? Wrong. Can’t quantify it is such before the game, realistically, you have to see how the game plays out.

Offense needs to show some signs of life. Time of possession will be crucial to the final outcome. A positive turnover ratio and limiting penalties is also key.

Need to score at least one TD and keep them to the low 30s. Then Hobbs and Ash can spin away.

Going backwards on offense, going entire quarters without making a first downs, 50 yards of total pass offense.

That’s what’s damaging, and entirely possible
It’s not just the blowout, it’s massive offensive ineptitude

I suspect that none of us would accept a 40-13 Loss today.

Keep it within 10 points and we can claim improvement in 2017.

Silly. If you lose by 13, 12, or 11, it actually makes a difference as to whether or not you can "claim improvement"? Ridiculous.

What in the world does this have to do with GS Nuts?
Is that where we’re at, GS year 2?
This is a different time and different era...if you truly believe 5 first downs and 50 yards passing isn’t damaging, you’re delusional buddy.

Close to it.

I don’t know why some of you cannot grasp the idea that this is a significant rebuild.

Biggest game of Ash’s early career. After last week laying a complete coaching egg, this team needs to compete. They don’t, or get stomped, it’s sionara for his chances for successs.

We have pretty good football guys on this board thinking 7 wins is a possibility next year Jim.
I’m not one of them

This is why Rutgers can't rely on wins and losses to tell the story at this point. Way too variable at this point.

The story needs to be about the system we are putting together and player development for that system.

Can’t imagine a high school kid with multiple P5 offers caring about that story

Just shows no one wants to fight for us only we as the fan base and boosters can fight for us. WE know there has been progress. That's why I hate when some people here incessantly knock their own program down.

Rutgers is just bad at football. This is because of many reasons. The people that defended Flood for years shoulder much of the blame. When you try to celebrate fcs recruits signing onto play B1G football and scorn anyone else who says otherwise this shoulsn’t surprise you. I like Ash and hope he gets it done but the team is weak just about everywhere. Also recruiting is pretty bad again except for a few notable successes.

Probably. But -

1. Are we getting many kids with multiple p5 offers to begin with?

2. Is our story of "we are playing to win at all costs" really working considering we are possibly on track for another blow out already today.
We are 2-10 and looking like 4-8.

Choose the game we have no chance of winning with nothing to play for as a "big game" that we "need to win" for recruiting? Cmon.. games like ILL, Purdue, Indiana, MD who we can compete with are bigger. It's putting those teams behind us is where we need to start first and then improve from there.

Perception would be better if there was 1 kid that this staff had made into a B1G quality player at the end of 2 years in the system. A true frosh or a rs-frosh. I can’t name one. Bueller? Anyone?

I never said it was good but you sound like a broken record my friend. We know the O sucks...shocker! I'm just pointing out the similarities to our O now, and when Greg (whom you LOVED from Day 1...) got started, that's all.

P.S. - BOOMDGGITIY! See what Lewis CAN bring to the table isn't that nice!
